i am a skeptic, has anybody tried this stuff? does it really reduce friction that much? i keep seeing commercials & some very well known (topfuel/funny car) dragracers swear by it.

if it will extend the life of my engine i'm willing to try it, what are your opinions?

that active 8 stuff looks pretty trick, but i am not convinced,, surely the oil shoudl be protecting teh engien rather than an additive,, think ill just keep up with regular oil changes and good quality oil

dont like teh slick 50 stuff just looks like ptfe

the way i see it if your engine needed it they would come out the factory like that and honda would state to use it. if you keep on top of your engine service ect there is no need that is only for people that dont look after there engines

i wouldnt use it on my engine

Guy my suppliers done extensive test with different oils and additives on a special machine that shows you how good these lubricats really are...

Its called a FALEX machine, and is a journaled shaft that rotates at a nominal RPM and has a weight hanger.

You lubricate the fresh bearing with the additive/oil being tested and set it rotating and start adding little weights onto the hanger. When the lubricant no-longer protects the bearing will score and the weight hanger starts to swing up.

Then youd put a fresh bearing set in and test a different lubricant and so-on

in summary of his tests the high-ester stock based oils performed best but when used with CERTAIN additives like for example LEADING EDGE LUBRICATS oil additive and TORCO MPZ.... he run out of weights and the thing just kept spinning happily! The MPZ and the LE lube was stuck on them bearing halfs good,,, You have to scrub them with BRAKECLEAN! to get the coating off! Other lubes tested that didnt excel included the slick 50...not anywhere near as good... but myself I now swear by the MPZ.:nice:

Theres no real need on factory engines but on motors where people have spent alot of money modifying the oiling system or building them then Id highly reccomend it. :nice:

EK9 turbo, one thing you have to watch out for with some additives is how they can cause oil to foam up, I'm not sure if that falex machine you describe tests for that.

I personally wouldnt use additives in my engine, just a regular oil change with quality oil is enough. Ichishima from spoon also suggests not putting additives in your engine as it can stuff up clearances

Additives that foam up? do you mean like engine flush additives!??

there shouldnt be any reaction or foaming in your oil wit any friction-reducing additive, and no the falex machines don't test for that. I can assure you MPZ and LE lubes additives dont foam up.:nice:
