Please stop doing it guys

Hate to see all these near perfect cars being broken myself but think it would be unfair to stop people breaking them.
The owners obviously see that the cars owe them something back and as most parts hold their price and are in demand unfortunately money talks.

Lets not forget that all of these quality parts will be bought by other owners upgrading and building their own cars to turn them into something special......to me, it's just a cycle.

Although most people can't see it now, eventually we will all move on to own other cars whether it be for financial reasons or just loss of interest and I think a lot of peoples opinions would probably change when it was time to get rid themselves.

These cars can be sold for big money still, it just takes longer waiting for the right buyer. Time which some people don't have.
I paid full £7,600 asking price for mine less than 12 months ago due to the modifications it had after switching from my DC5 and I'd do it again.:D

Hope I see no more being broken though. :please:

as much as i love to have some ek9 parts in my ej9. it annoys me too how some mint ek9s are gettin broken :(

i understand it is painful to watch these ek9s being broke when there is clearly nothing wrong with them, but at the end of the day it is their vehicle and they can do what they want with it. As someone mentioned that you may stop them from breaking here, you may not stop them elsewhere. ek9.org is just a small part of this honda community and everyone has different views and obviously most of us here are against breaking mint ek9s. People will not stop breaking ek9s and that is a fact, and we simply cannot really do anything about it..

unless gav organises a RSPCEK9 (Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to EK9s) lol

but on the serious note, this is a good heads up.

If I didn't have my EK9 id be willing to pay big money for some of the ones for sale at the moment. I'm sure there are others like me.

The recession will end (sometime) and people will start buying cars again :D

couldnt have said it better myself son

mine not be an ek9 but it has crossed my mind braking my subaru to get back the money due to the market collapsing however the way i see it is it is sacrilidge and for the matter of holding out for a bit longer and selling the car as whole is far less stressful and would be nice to see someone else enjoy it

well said martin.. i remember paying £4450 for my EG6 SiR, that was the advertising price, lol i simply didn't think twice about the price..... to me it was justifiable as i wanted it so badly !!!!

:wow: i leave for a few days and come back to everyone breaking their cars! :((
Tis a shame...

The problem is even trying to sell a standard ek9 at the moment, its hard enough as it is. I for one am not made of money, i can't afford to have a car sat on my driveway doing nothing. :nono:

Definately agree with this thread. Definately a shame to see these rare cars been broke. I do understand the current market at the moment is hard and makes it easier to regain money in some cases by breaking the cars.

Amen , hopefully after the recession the value of them will go up again !

i was actually discussing this with a friend of mine just last week.. hes a big vauxhall head n its part of the total vauxhall forum! and hes lookin for a redtop engine and is finding it hard to get as the forum wont advertise breaking cars... i was telling him that there is so many people on ek9.org breaking perfectly good ek9 as theres more money in it than selling hole! i only own an ej9 and some day would love the chance to own an ek9 but tbh the way things are goin there will be no genuine ek9s left! i really think yous shud take the breaking section off!

thanks for reading! :)

Yea I hate seeing people break the cars completly. I just sold off the parts and put back to near standard to sell the car off. I needed as much money back so this is why I did it. This way lots of different people can add to there projects with the parts I sold and someone can buy a clean standard sample of an ek9 and mod it with the parts they want hence starting another project

Gav couldnt agree with you more man! It recks my head so much seeing more and more ek9s being broke there so many for breaking there has to be more than is on the road over here! Soon there will be only a few ek9s left and im putting money on it we will be left with a load of ej9`s loaded with ek9 parts! :( which is stupid just buy an ek9!! Its also so much hassle to break a car be so much easier to sell it on to another enthusiast!

some good feedback here cheers for all comments :D and obviously i know sometimes it can be the best option if your gonna have to spend alot of money you aint got to repair a blown engine or something but alot of the time its just not necessary and this is whats annoying :(
Especialy for new users joining the forum to learn everything they can about the cars etc and see's loads of perfect examples being broken for parts, i know it would put me off for sure...

Theres a lot of people supporting this Gav, :)) but like you say its about time and effort but we all know how happy these cars make us when we have them the way we want!! If i was a new user i defo would be a bit confused seeing so many being broke! Lets hope we see less breaking and more effort and money put into them! Im only after spending 2k on a respray at least you guys can be sure i wont be breaking mine :D

Can see evryones point, but tbh if i had a standardish one. I'd sell it complete but if it was highly modded i'd burst it. End of the day no one is scrapping the shells so they are all gettin built back up anyways....
