Oil recommendations/help D14

Hi Ive got an ej9 with a d14z2 with almost 78k on it and I need to top up the oil a bit, my user manual says what oil I need for winter/summer (I'll check it later) but from what I've learnt in college when an engine wears more it require slightly thicker oil. Halfords say I need 10w/40
What do you guys use in your d series and what oil do you recommend

Just pop some semi decent 10W40 in it and forget about it, that engine will survive the shell and would probably another two. If it has been looked after and if the mileage is true it is just about broken in, I'd say you have another 100-150k miles before you need worry about oil "thickness", the shell will have disintegrated by then.
