hi ppl. has anyone ever had an oil leak from there head gasket. iv got a very slight oil leak and i cant find where its comin from.the leak is below the cylinder head. it only seems to leak after iv had the engine over 6000rpm. its a b16a2 and i fitted ek9 cams to it about 3000 miles ago. i replaced everythin apart from new head bolts cos i was told by a honda mechanic that i didnt need to. do you think maybe once my engine is up to high revs that the head could be lifting and alowing oil to leak from the head gasket

cheers callum

picture of leak? And is it a leak as in to say its dripping? Or is it more like "oil sweat" because a little buildup is normal with b engines.

sorry if i asked a bit here mate...

is oil sweat normal?

yes its more of an oil sweat than a drip. and after about 2 or 3 weeks it will build up and i will get one tiny drip about the size of your pinky finger nail

very normal, even on a freshly built B engine.

That sounds like a bit more than what i typically see but as long as its not enough to drip down the side of the engine and leave a mark on the floor your safe :nice: the the leak is so bad that its dripping on the floor then you have a problem.

it could be the cam shaft seals and it will be running down. same happened to my engine on my B16a2

if you only fitted cams, why would you have changed head bolts?did you re build engine also or change head gasket?common spot for oil leak is from the o ring on the dizzy where it slots into cam.

sorry i rebuilt the head at the same time valves and springs oil seal valve stem seals new head gasket. its not leakin out the cam shaft seals its a hard leak to find. i also thought it could have been the crank shaft oil seal and its spryin the oil mist. its not bad enought to find i left the car running on the ramp at my work for almost an hour and not 1 drip. it seems to be down beside where the air con pump used to be
