I've had enough of being aurally assaulted every time I drive my EK4 with its stupid mortar tube Tanabe SMR, and was thinking of perhaps getting an OEM Ek9 system to replace it?

I gather the 9 system is a 2.5" I.D, so would I be right to assume I would need the header as well? How much would this set me back roughly second hand, I very rarely see OEM systems for sale?

If anyone wants to swap a system for my SMR I am interested!

seriously my 5ZIGEN has a really nice sound quite out of but really roars into vtec quite deep note good exhaust brand new centre section i mite be goin dwn the twinloop route so u best find we and see wat u think to my 5zigen!

Yes could check it out, you got a picture of it? Although being an SiR, won't yours be a 2.5" system too?

I see there is actually an EK9 system in the For Sale section at the moment just over in Portsmouth with the manifold for a reasonable price.

i thought the tanabe SMr was a good not so noisy sytem when not accelarting hard, if that is the case then im not going to buy this sytem instead am gona go for the Buddyclub spec 4 or 5 sytem cant rember which one but heard good thing about them

As I said, aural assault best sums it up. Obviously some people like it, I did when I first got the car but now it is simply embarrasing pulling into my estate late at night, trudling round town etc. It looks silly too, and doesn't really fit very well if I'm honest. Touches the chassis in a couple of places which vibrates through the cabin and creates even more noise.

I wouldn't reccomend one to anyone to be honest.

The EK9 exhaust is 2.25" ID. It has better flow than the stock EK4's.

just get the the ek9 manifold, exhaust and cat, very good oem system all round, id kill to run an oem ek9 exhaust but cant due to my setup

IM running one right now all you hear is the engine the exhaust is really quite. Im going to take the silencers to make it have a little more sound

Really? So it should fit my EK4 manifold and cat?

I know getting the EK9 manifold will yeild a performance gain, but purely on price at the moment, if I can get the cat back and mate it up to my existing decat then I'll be happy.

Excellent, I'll just get the catback for now then, and a performance header at a later date.

i may know some1 is selling a ek9 oem exhuast i send you their name so you can start the pm

Cheers bud, nice one. Hopefully shipping an exhaust won't cost too much as I can't afford to collect anything given where I live!

Yes the exhausts are interchangeable from the B pipe -> backbox. The difference is seen where the collectoor on the exhaust manifold attaches to the cat.

naaaaaaaaaaaaaah! are they all the same length? I have a aftermarket catback which is doing my head in, i want to run a decat with OEM noise levels, so this will be PERFECT! anyone know if a UKDM DC2 b-pipe is also the same as a EK9? does a EK9 backbox fit a EK4?

hold on. the EK9 cat is shorter than a EK4 cat, where is the difference in length made up? Or is the EK9 a shorter wheelbase?

johnny 5, you're going to have to excuse me. I'm not from the UK. I have an EK4 SiRII which would be the equivalent of the japanese variant. Therefore the lenghs of each section of the exhaust system would be similar. Only the collector size and ID wouldn't be.

I'm running an EK9 b-pipe and EK9 black box on my EK4. Yeah the EK9 cat is a bit shorter then the EK4 cat so I had problem with the fitment, as the EK9 exhaust I got didn't come with the cat. I've removed my EK4 cat and got a resonator pipe welded on to compensate for the length difference, apart from that all the mounts are identical, has a nice quiet deepest tone too.

Here is a nice comparison between the ek9 and ek4 system

i had a oem ek9 b pipe and back box on my vti its a good standard system. only thing u need to change is the de cat pipe. fits perfect to.

Sorry for digging this up but I'm kinda lost.

I have a stock EK4 and I'm thinking only about some basic improvements like DC2 airbox, DC2 cams, Tegiwa headers etc. - nothing big.

The thing is that I sometimes drive the car more than 120 miles without any break and the sound of my Supersprint is killing me when it pulls even just a little. So I decided to change to something with bigger diameter and low noise. Therefore I would like to get a stock EK9 exhaust system.

Now the problem - where to get it? Is there any e-shop in UK which still sells this? I tried the lingshondaparts for example but they do not offer the end section anymore only the middle one. If it's not anymore possible to get OEM one, is there any manufacturer who produces that as a spare part? Like Bosal, Walker etc. ?

I will appreciate every advice where to buy this system or what would replace it best. (as I wrote already I'm not looking for sound only for better flow and silence for my EK4 :D )

:please:

Thank you very much
