Octane booster ?

My civic is a jap import and they use higher octane fuel over there..i tink its 98octane here in ireland and 101 over there. Should i add some to every tank to get the full power out of my engine or would it just be a waste of money.Does anyone have any views on this.My engine is has standard compression ratio at the moment.
 
97 ron fuel is the best can be bought in ireland, ive been told by a few dc2's owners millers octane booster is the best to use
 
thats right 97 is highest in ireland...had problems even finding it last
time i was in galway area :((

just had to put in 95ron and looked for octane booster ....anyone
i asked looked at me as if i was alien :angry2:

as for the mix, it will say on the bottle,prob small bottle to a full
tank or the likes

"sainsburys" is the cheapest 97ron up here in the north :)
 
Having the same trouble myself lads.

I found this site though, really sound guy running it, Home , he is selling some of that octane booster. Going to pick some of him during the week. Tell him Ben send ya if you're getting some. :D
 
there was only one shell station in galway that sold vpower i used to always get it there but now its a topaz station so no more vpower:(:(:(
 
You'll be fine, consider USA only has 93 highest and our USDM ITR had same comrpession as b16b...
 
Blinx, USA use MON rating K use RON rating 95 MON (us) is like 97 RON (uk/europe)

Save your money and buy a 25L tub of Xylene.

You can put 1L of pure Xylene in with every tank-full, which will bumps 95ron to equivelant 9ron.

Thanks i always wanted to know that, do you know what the conversion factor is? like will 93mon = 95ron :confused: all i know is USA has crappiest gas ever :angry: My area only has 91 :angry2:
 
your 91MON is like our 95RON. Your gas isnt that far afield from our. But shell over here i =/>99RON

There is no specific conversion, it varies on the specific fuel and its 'ingredients' so to speak. The numbers I listed are approximations but they are pretty close. :nice:

I used to use toluene / xylene when the shell refinaries went on strike and runout of premium.
 
I see, the problem in the US is legally the advertised octane can be + or - up to like 4 points!! So the 91 could be 95 or it could be 87 in extreme cases of course :( that is part of the reason i chose to have such low compression, just in case i get a tank of crap gas...
 
Yea tesco and shell up my way are 99ron and its 94.9p a litre at the moment! Long may it last! :)
 
Thanks for the info..one more question does anyone know the exact octane rating of the fuel in jdm land...if i have this i will then be able to add m6y booster perfectly.
