No compromise Supercharged ek9 build

I dont have job during term time when at uni. I work in the holidays and in the summer and i make a bit of money on the side buying and selling things. Everything is paid for thankfully and its not costing me anything to keep it so i dont mind only using it in the weekends and when the weathers good. Oh and if your wondering i dont get any help from my parents so all was paid for with my own hard work. I do get a student loan and bursary, however staying in edinburgh is not cheap and nearly all gets spent on living costs unfortunatly.

one word beautiful!!!! and looks vvvvv expensive bro u must have spent a small fortune on that amazing ek9 wow

Thank you for the kind words. The tow strap is there attached to the front beam but its only there for aesthetics. I would never have the car towed from there as i dont think its strong enough tbh

Update:

This is the new run around civic i bought about a month ago. Great little runner, reasonably comfy and very economical. I stay near the hospital so it only ever gets used when i go to see my parents in the weekends or for shopping and most importantly it keeps the miles and salt off of the ek9, which is tucked away in the garage for the winter. Although i did start it up 2 days ago as it had not been started up for about a month and i took it for a short blast and oh my do i miss it.

The fixed bride seat arrived but its too small for me so im getting ride of it along with the ek9 recaro's for a set of red fixed recaro pole positions/spg's with another takata harness for the passengers seat.

Went on another shopping spree and the majority of parts arrived today:

Photo2896.jpg

The standard momo steering wheel is a good steering wheel but i have never been fully comfortable using it. So went for a Momo aftermarket steering wheel with a spoon horn(still in the post). Its the same wheel thats in the nsx-r but with a spoon horn obviously. It feels awesome and the red stitching sets it off nicely especially with the ek9 recaros, doorcards and carpet being red too.

Spoon horn to go with the momo steering wheel, which is yet to come.

Since i was going down the after market steering wheel route i decided that i wanted an nrg quick release system as it will bring the steering wheel closer to me and will also be a major theft deterrent. No steering wheel, means you cant just drive off. Also im planing on having fixed buckets so getting into the car will be easier with a snap off steering wheel system. So i went ahead and ordered an nrg quick release, nrg short hub,nrg lock and nrg lock holder.

Photo2872.jpg

The nrg quick release is a great bit of kit. Its the 2.5 gen version which has the larger paddles at the side, which look like paddles off a sequential box. pull the paddles towards you and you disconnect the quick release from the hub, allowing you to remove the steering wheel altogether. It comes in various colours but i wanted it to be discrete so i ordered it in anodised black. The whol kit is very well made and has an anti scratch surface. Its also has a ball-bearing system to ensure little play in the steering.

ball bearings to minimise play

Photo2880.jpg

The Nrg short hub. After buying it i have decided against use it. Its too thin and i want the steering wheel to sit even closer so i ordered a momo hub from funky power last week, which will be used instead of this. Still looks and feel like a very well made item.

NRG lock holder

Photo2889.jpg

Photo2887.jpg

Nrg lock. This is again another security feature that nrg offer separately. Basically when you remove your steering wheel you lock this onto the hub preventing anyone else from fitting their own steering wheel. when not in use it locks onto the lock holder, which should be here by early next week. Overall the steering wheel with the full nrg kit comes in at around £550 but when you consider its value as a theft deterrent then it becomes the bargain of the century imo.

Also ordered some Skunk2 lower control arm bushes from funky power yesterday aswell, which should be here next week. One of the reasons i never fitted my skunk2 lca's was because 2 of the bushes were starting to split so i had to wait around 1 month for funky power(skunk2 uk dealer) to get some in from the states. The ones i have, have been used for less than 800 miles and yet 2 of the bushes were shot. Not exactly the sort of quality you would expect for £220 but hopefully these new 'revised' bushes should be stiffer and wont perish as quick.

Spoon aero wiper blades. I needed to replace the wipers so i decide to pay a bit more and get spoon ones and since they were on offer at £75, down from £125 i couldn't resist.Still very expensive for just a set of wipers without the arms but i dont know anyone with a set and i always wanted a set so i bought them.

Genuine titanium Spoon gear knob. Probably one of my favourite mods to date. Spoon only made them for a very short period of time and it featured in spoons k20'd ek9. Its hollow titanium so it is unbelievably light at around 40 grams. It has a burnt look to it which is another feature that i like aswell. The stock type r gear knob is also titanium but it is very very heavy. All depends on personal preference but i never liked the throw of the stock ek9 gear knob so this one should have a better feel to it. To cut a long story short I ended up buying 2 because there was a mix up with thread sizes so one will be up for sale if anyone wants it.

Also drove up to arbroath to pick up a spoon b pipe as well (thanks to Cartney). Dont have any pics of it as its at my parents house. cant wait to hear and feel the difference the spoon b pipe and decat make once fitted.

Still waiting for the Spoon horn button, momo steering wheel hub, bi xenon hid kit, nrg lock holder and Revised skunk2 lower control arm bushes.

nice bit of kit dude. this car is certainly getting cared for very well, it should be very cheerful and appreciative ;)

I have just spent the last hour going through this thread, I am impressed with the amount of detail you have given the car.

You have also given me a few idea's for mine!

Cheers!

cheers man. aye got a few updates to post up but just been busy last couple of weeks. hmmm dont think i do mate. where abouts is he from?

He's from stirlng, works for a company called dsg.

Was talking to him in work the other week and he mentioned he knew a guy with a supercharged ek9 so I guessed it might have been yours

As far as i am aware there is only one charged 9 in scotland so most probably i do know him but just cant bring a face to the name.

Still going well I see, your attention to detail is amazing!
Would you like to immortalise your car for x-mas with a personalised EK9.org Top Trump? You'd be the one and only supercharged EK9! The link is in my signature.

cheers cw. yeh i would like that mate and i will sighn up for it in a sec. cheers

Update:

Progress has been pretty slow over the last few months primarily because of lack of time but i have managed to take a few weekends off to get the wheels rolling again. car has been off the road now for nearly 3 months and miss not being able to drive it :( still at least gives me some time to work on it over the winter months, which is something i enjoy nearly as much as driving it.

Got my NRG quick lock holder through from funky power along with the revised skunk 2 lower control arm bushes.

Side by side comparison. The after market momo one has a much nicer feel to it and feels less bulky. its also obviously lighter as it has no airbag

After thinking about it for months i finally decided to buy a hid kit. The ek9 headlights are piss poor at best and on some occasions the poor lighting they offer has been pretty dangerous so i have decided that i want to try hid's out. i loved the xenons i had in the clio so looking forward to fitting these.

Also ordered a few bits from honda a few weeks ago:

Genuine facelift rear lights. i wired up the fogs into the right hand side tailight for neatness as i didnt like the look of the bodged rear fog that was on before.

also ordered some genuine spoon stickers, which arrived this week. not sure if i want to fit all of them now as i like the clean look and im thinking now that too many stickers on the exterior might look abit cluttered but might stick them on just for the Nurburgring trip in the summer.

When i undersealed the car in the summer i was never really satisfied with the job on the underside of the car using a brush as it was difficult to get to the tiny spaces with a brush so i bought some waxoyl and a high pressure sprayer to spray it on with instead. Will hopefully have access to a ramp during the Christmas holidays so i can get it done properly.

Photo2983.jpg

A couple of random fuses needed replaced so picked some up from halfrauds.

Photo2984.jpg

Fitted the spoon wipers aswell but wasnt happy with the condition of the actual wiper arm as the paint was flaking off it so i removed the whole arm on both sides and resprayed them satin black (closest to oem colour) and they came out nicely.
