Been having a problem with my neighbour with regards to supplying my garage with electric.
Months ago I was running an extension lead from my house into my garage just so I could use a lead light, only for a couple of hours while I was doing some jobs.
To get it to the garage I had to run the cable over his driveway which he said was fine, I asked beforehand.
The next day he came out and told me that he was terrified that someone would fall over the cable on his drive and sue him. I was like ok I'll try and resolve this. I made a massive sign and had high visibility items and made sure there was no way you could trip over it, so thought yep all good. No he then really kicks up a stink about it. Starts mentioning deeds of house etc.
I lost it at this point. Had a bit of a moan etc, he then concluded I had to run the cable out into the road (around his driveway) and back into my drive, as long as it didn't touch his land.
Which I did, but at this point it was getting stupid. So I stopped altogether and said to him that I would save up and get it done properly by using armoured cable underground etc. He was ok with that at the time.
This is a man that I bend over backwards for, give him all sorts of things, work on his car, you name it I do him a favour. But for me nah!
Also this is a man that has electric in his garage, but by running a sub standard extension lead that he has buried underground! With no armouring, not properly insulated! Not fit for the job! Under gravel etc to his house. Which I pointed out is dangerous but hay.
Anyway, had an electrician round last night to quote and plan where to lay the cable. I need permission off him to go underneath 2 of his paving slabs to access my garage.
So this evening went to have a chat about it.
Turns out he isn't keen as he thinks it's dangerous!
Says the man that runs an extension lead to his garage permanently with no protection!
I totally understand it's his land and he can do what he wants but my god it's frustrating.
Now waiting for him to make a decision.....
Thoughts on my situation?
Rant over
