I have a ej9 civic 2000 , been slowly building it up but recently two people in my area got ek9s, really lost moditvation and to be honest the money going out of my pockets doesnt seem to be worth it. Would i be better off to sell and save up for a new car or continue with the build ? Have a job but can see the car being a bit of a money pit :((

It depends what age you are due to insurance. An ek4 might be the more suitable choice.

I would go for a change if you can afford it because its hard to keep going at a car that you no longer want. If you keep pumping the money into & you know your not going to keep it there's no point imo

18 full liecence , years named no claims excess 500e , reckon i could get insured on a ek4 bit extra money doubt i could get insured on a 9 . reckon i might get a glanzaor something along the lines with abit extra power and insurable. cant see how people have mint ej9s must have cost a fortune on parts

Builds taker alot of time, money and dedication.. There not for everyone so its really depends what you want out of your car.. I built mine with the intention of never selling and 2 years later after the build i still have it :nice: I spent alot of money on it but I like how it's sits now and what I've accomplished.. If this doesn't interest you I'd sell up and go for a change.

sell it on, and start fresh with an ek4/9 if your insurance allows, not being smart but no matter how much you spend on it its still going to be an ej9 not an ek4/9 i know fellas that have spent serious money on the same sort of cars and there only regret was that they didnt do it to the real thing i.e. do up an ek9 instead of an ej9!

exactly what im thinking

Hold on to the ej9 for a couple of years then get a 9 when you have built up some no claims. Otherwise you will just be throwing money away on insurance.

I'd say just keep it simple and don't spend a fortune on it of in doubt, like my first car was an ej9 and it was standing me around 6k by the time I was finished with the d14 still in place lol. But I loved the thing, however if I was doing it over again, I would have bought a clean facelift base, added an OEM front lip, decent wheels and coilovers, maybe some colour coding and left it at that whilst saving for my next car.

Although I did okay in my situation getting £3900 for it :nice:
