Need a new battery

Hi guys,

Firstly I hope this is the right section!

Anyway, I'm having issues whereby my battery is going flat very easily. I don't use my car daily so occasionally it has gone flat naturally which is acceptable however lately it has been rather haphazard! For instance I started the car, drove around for about 40mins and then got some petrol, after this I went 2mins down the road and stopped the car (and engine) for 2mins outside a shop with the radio and my lights on. Went to start her up and it was flat again!

Took it to my mechanic who said the battery seems to be charging weirdly with the readings jumping about so said I should probably look into a new battery. Does this seem accurate? He was unable to identify other issues.

Now, which battery is best and where can I get one?

Cheers!

Standard Honda battery was cheapest for me from the local stealership, think it was about £48.

Was more than that at Halfords even with the trade card!

Cool, I've read that the original EK9 battery has been discontinued so is it a DC2 one I'd ask for or any particular kind? Are the terminals smaller on the standard '9 one?

Not sure there's a specific battery for ek9 mate. I just got one from local parts supplier & that seems fine. There are lightweight smaller batteries, but they probably won't last so well.. If you just go into Honda garage they do 'Honda Happiness' battery for fixed price fitted. Don't know how much it will be though..

My battery kept going flat, every morning it wouldnt start but after i got jump started and ran it for a bit it would be fine just mornings.
Had it on the charger over night seemed fine put it in and still nothing. Checked the acid it was fine not dried out.
Just decided to buy a new one from halfords, was £70 but has a 3 year guarentee just mind keep the reciet.

Get one from tanyabatteries, there is a link in the ek9 parts list sticky :)

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies! I ended up going to Honda as they were cheaper than Halfords, bought a Jazz battery as the terminals are smaller and therefore was a straight swap for the OEM item. The actual size of the unit is much reduced too so there might be a slight weight advantage.
