Hi guys and girls,

Having owned my Civic for near 3 years, I decided to finally get some VTi Wheels for it. Having found these on a popular auction site, I wanted them to contrast with the body colour of the car. My car is finished in a deep Dark Metallic Blue. The colour choice I went for on the alloys is Polar White (Honda).
Anyway, having found a great guide on how to do this on the net, I thought it would be worth me sharing my pictures to show how they look now.

Please note, I am no expert, but just took my time, and without bragging I think I did a good job:)

Any questions please ask:)

Nice work mate, i'm looking to do a D.I.Y job myself, which guide did you use ??

Hi Smithy,

I found it here...

Paint Your Car Rims - Car Body Work

The guy has made it really simple, especially with some great pictures.
I just used:

1 X Pack (10 sheets) 240 Grit wet and dry paper
1 X Pack (10 Sheets) 1200 Grit wet and dry paper
2 X Cans (Halfords) U-Pol Etch primer as opposed to normal primer (apparently it works better with metals?)
3 X Cans (Halfords) Honda Polar White
2 X Cans (Halfords) Clear Lacquer
1 X (Any car shop) Body Filler

Please dont do what my brother decided to do. He used Nitro-mors, causing one of my wheels to look shitty. Best thing to do is sand them by hand.
Oh yes, make sure you wear a decent pair of gloves to avoid ruining your hands when sanding.

Any problems, gimme a shout, see if I can help you out.

Good luck!

great job mate im thinking of doing mine but worried ill make a **** of it lol do u have to keep the wheels wet when using wet and dry and what grade do you use first ?

I used the 240 grit AFTER giving them a very good cleaning. I dried them well using some towles (but that vexed the other half!).
You dont need to keep the grit paper wet as the factory coat turns to dust. You will know when it is "ready" as it will look like the entire wheel has been already sprayed in primer.
After the primer coat, it is worth finding imperfections and doing these again, using 1200 grit. Any imperfections at this stage will just show up on a scale of 10x when the wheel is done.

By the way, thanks for the comments, and as you say (Ramz007) makes it more rewarding :D

Will add some pictures once the car has the wheels back on. I am going to refurb the other wheels that are on the car at the minute, and I may sell the VTi wheels soon...keep you all posted!
