Just picked up my new daily hack, a sensible, cheap to run car:

1994 UK spec 1.8iS with 78k, Torsen LSD and hardtop.

Bloody lovely addition to my stable alongside the ATR, I now own excellent examples of both FWD and RWD drivetrains. :D

haha nice! not what you would normally associate with a 'winter' hack :p

What better way to travel on a snowy morning than with the top down? :D

An mx5 definitely would not be the first car to cross my mind as a winter hack lol.
Got a soft spot for these :)

Came close to buying one of these on multiple occations
Very nice mate

Nice man, like the pic. Down the wire on the tyre with the sparks coming from it! Set of winter tyres on it and will be good fun in the snow

Great cars, not as economical on petrol as I thought though! Mines the same as yours but the Japanese version, got a TR Lane roll-bar for it too.

No I must say it doees seem to drink, possibly more than my ATR, which is alarming for the power and weight of the thing.

Still, I don't mind paying for fuel when I get enjoyment from the drive. I'd rather have 25mpg in this than 50mpg a diseasal eurobox. :nice:

Clocks say the engine will happily go to to 7k but I find that it doesn't bother accelerating after 3k. Brilliant cars though, I bought mine for £1k and when I look at other cars it just doesn't compete for value. Good choice Kozy :nice:

as others have said not quite what i was expecting but im sure it will be lots of fun!

Especially sliding around in the winter weather!!

So jellus. Good little buy. I have my pulsar up for sale at the moment to buy one of these or a 200SX.

Always wondered about the Fuel consumption on these, keep hearing only bad things. Must be a reason to it. Maybe an Economic small turbo would be the answer haha.

I get 33 mpg out of mine, it's my long distance commuter!

I'm going to test how many MPG I get when I next fill up, 33 MPG isn't too bad. Going to give the old girl an oil change today and test the effect of some of the Wynn's oil cleaner stuff.

After last night, very, very easily. :nono:

Mine was owned by drifters before me, although technically standard, it's certainly been tweaked for rear steer action.

Luckily, last nights 270 only resulted in a quick tow off a grass verge I got stuck on. A little less exuberance required next time I think!

Must be something wrong with yours then, mine doesn't start pulling till 4k and sings quite well up to around 6700.

Maybe the previous owners had been tinkering with more than the suspension!

I believe it's mostly down to the low compression ratio and not particularly efficient heads. You could improve both aspects but most people just opt to slap a charger on it instead.

Id be tempted by one of the later VVT engines with a 6 speed box at some point!

Awesome lol
Should have filmed it for a Tokyo Drift style montage :)
