My new 98 spec Dc2-R

That cant be standard ride height.

When i bout my ITRx it was on standard springs / dampers and it was much higher than that.

Very very tidy DC2 though, great buy :win:

No its not standard height. It has Ohlin shocks with Tein springs.

So I sold my civic just before Christmas and purchased this the same day. Bought it off a local lad and very happy with how clean it is. When I bought it, it was grinding into all gears so I took out the box and there was an f1 racing clutch in it and the fulchrum springs in the pressure plate had broken causing the grinding. Put in a basic exedy clutch and away I went. Car was fairly standard when I bought it except for bumper duct, rear spats, aem mushroom filter, lightweight flywheel, ohlin shocks with tein springs and ngk leads. Has a 4.7 fd with 96 4th and 5th which ill be taking out for ats 3rd,4th and 5th in the coming weeks. Spent weeks looking for a decent second hand exhaust which was very hard to find, bought a Fujitsubo Legalis R axleback which didnt fit so I sold it and bought a Mugen Twinloop axleback and had a 2.5" straight stainless pipe made from the bottom of the mani to the backbox.

Plans are for a map, ats gearset and have to do the valve stem oil seals so i'll get the head ported and polished whilst I have it off.

Also bought another set of 98 wheels with 4 new Dunlop slicks

Here's a few pictures of it:

Bought some Vht wrinkle paint off CleanCar.ie and sprayed a spare rocker cover I had, its a good bit brighter than the orignal ones but looks better than the gold imo.

Only had them on one night for a few hours Gav, they have to be well warmed up before there any use.

Going drag racing in two weeks so i'll see what there like then!!

Sooo where do I start.. Been a while since I updated this.. Ran into some bad luck about 4 months ago, spun a big end bearing on the way home from Dublin one night.. Whipped the engine out a few days later and kind of lost interest in it for awhile. Doing a full overhaul of the car, engine rebuild, gearbox rebuild with gear x gears I bought, new mounts, bushings etc, full respray. Bought some te37s for it which are being painted too. Got back at it there last week, stripped the engine and I needed a crank so I went and got a good one with low km's.. dropped it and the head over to Martin Tracey at Westward Engineering the other evening to get it micro polished and to get the head skimmed with new valve stem oil seals and valves re-seated. *Should have them back next week and I'll start building. Also need a new piston and rod which I'm collecting at the weekend. *

Anyway here's some pictures of the work and the parts I've bought, I'll keep it updated as the work goes on..

Taking out the engine:

Brought the engine to the bench and started stripping

Some filings

Old crank and new one

Pistons and rods

Some of the rebuild parts

Gears

15" Te37's stripped to bare metal and replacement bronze and gold paint and new stickers
