Hi guys bought an ek9 a week ago its a project for myself want to get it cleaned up the way it should be but first things first its not starting. Its getting fuel and spark and cranking but just won't start. Its got A'pexi fc ecu could this we the problem ? Any advice would be great

Air filter blocked? Have u done a compression test? Has it run since you have had it?

Need answers to what Vtex said, especially concerning it running while you've had it.

Oil level and condition fine? Supply of gasoline not really old?
Is the timing set correctly, or is it slipped by a few teeth? That can be a culprit.
Also one thing I do when a car has been sitting for a long time and I'm trying to start it, is attach jumpers+another running car to the normal battery for extra juice, or put a battery charger on it set to "start" mode for extra juice.
I've even squirted some starting fluid into the TB before to see if I get a couple of burbles from an old engine.

One time I had a swapped in a motor that had been sitting for years, it wouldn't start even though we had timing, fuel, spark, and air. We were dumbfounded. Turns out we just had to keep trying to start it and eventually it came back to life.

After all these things you'll try, the ECU could obviously be the issue. But address that last.

Have you tried abit of easy start up in the Intake?
If it fires then keep it running for alittle while before shutting it off and trying again.

Ive had this before. In the end I took all the spark plugs out and heated them up with a blow torch and replaced them sharply.

Only do this if your sure everything else is spot on. Old fuel can certainly be a culprit, as has been said.

If the engine has been sitting a long time I would also recommend you put a tea spoon of two stroke oil in each cylinder through the spark plug hole. This will ensure the piston and rings have some lubrication

sorry guys not been on for a while. I checked most of what yous have said and had no joy so took the car down to henry roy at triple h and got a call couple of days ago hes got it running the timing was 180 degree out so was firing in the wrong order. hes putting new timing kit water pump ect on it and should be ready for me 2moz woooo
