My ek9 on Dyno

Was up Pod this weekend at Fast Show, and thought i would get a rough idea and see how much power my cars putting out before i get her mapped and dyno'd properly next month...wish i hadnt bothered TBH. I no this dyno has had loads of complaints about being out, and heard loads of stories about it but i was still pretty shocked at result.

Anyone else had similar expierences with this dyno?

I made...........................150.5hp. :dance:

Jordan with a b16b intake and exhaust went on after me and made 133hp. :dance:

Powah mods are if intrested; FEELS 4-2-1, FEELS decat, BOYZ CST ZERO-1 exhaust, dc2 airbox with Spoon filter, Magnacor 8.5mm leads, HKS plugs, HKS oil filter, Titan Race oil, Fidanza 3.4kg Flywheel, Exedy Stage 1 clutch, Mfactory 4.9 FD. Standard ecu, and overfuelling a bit at the moment but will be getting s300 and a map next month hopefully.

If its the same company who is always up there (fat bloke with scruffy hair) then I wouldn't pay attention! That dyno gives totally stupid results then tries to sell you their "chip" I've never seen a car make decent power on there. I'd never use it again

sounds like a poor dyno not the cars, i used a dyno dynamics machine and pulled up 155bhp, said to them ther machine seemed low as iv had it pull 180bhp at tdi north, they asked if i had print out but i didnt as it was ages before, they then adjusted the formulae lol and car came out with more power, went to tdi north a few months later and pulled 184bhp so threw away the other one haha get on a machine that people have recommened and go from there, i have been told the in floor ones give a better more accurate reading, dont know how true this is however

hub dyno's are more acurate
 
Took this car to modified nationals when i had it last year and guess what, same company and made the same figures. My mate went on with a mazda mps which he got dyno'd the day before and he lost 50BHP. He confronted them about it and asked for thier calibration certificate and they just shrugged their shoulders. He also showed them his dyno results that he got the day before on a proper dyno.

Never trust these portable dynos. They just take your money.

PS: spotted you on the way out of the pod but couldnt find you to talk to lol
 
Yeah I had a civic coupe with a b18c and it came out at 150bhp, but it did a 14.7sec 1/4 mile and would run off the clock over 140mph. utter crap that dyno.
 
Loveland: was surprised at seeing you all the way down here lol car looked nice mate. Yeah never again will I use that shitty dyno.
 
That dyno is a load of rubbish! It said my B18 EG was only like 150hp. They dont have a clue what they are doing.
 
I saw this on the dyno and then later a s14a with a blitz frount mount and exhaust all i could see visually made 212 hp lol, what a joke
 
I wouldnt worry to much about that **** dyno, i would bet he is just a typical guy who dont know much about tuning cars and instead of buying a burger van he bought a knackered old mobile dyno dyno and takes it to all the car events just like a burger van and makes a fortune, instead of giving you food poisoning hes giving you a **** read out.

As above i prefer a dynohub machine very accurate

14.7 in a b18 I ran a 14.8 in my old red ek4 lol my old b18 ek ran a 14.5 on 1/4 mile.

If you notice that dyno is at lease 30+ bhp if you look at the jordan and the ek9. I never touch them mobile dynos makes your your car look like a 106 In front of a crowd when it's actually wrong, not worth the imbaresment and the 30 quid they steal off you.

Lmao this is so true.

Get yourself to a dyno day thats using a decent dyno with other ek9s. At least then no matter if the dyno reads high or low you can compare to the other 9s.
 
From experiance FWD Hondas make crap figures on Dyno Dynamics, know 4WD make good figures on Dyno Dynamic as a mate ran 280 in his Evo 8 with just an exhaust upgrade.

If your pulls well in comparison to similar cars and doesnt burn shed loads of oil or smoke your good :)
 
Will this be the one that is going to japfest? I was going to use it but now I think I'm not going to bother! My engine has been rolling roaded before though so it could make a good comparison

Thanks mate. Thats the second time your cars been on that dyno and loads of people have complained about it. To be honest if it goes we on road/ track and the engine is in good health figures means nothing. Its more bragging rights.
