My EK (aka Thunder)

Is it topgear you're watching on the Laptop?. As a welder/metal anorak I'm dead against manifold wrap. It will eventually rust the exhaust because moisture becomes trapped against the tube. The clue is in the name. Stainless, It stains less. it's not called stainproof.

looking good bro im loveing your rims to

Cheers mate, they do get some looks and comments lol

keep up the good work dude . << that comment is something like we used to get at school lol bad times .

Haha gotta love tht comment.

It wasnt, it was jonathan ross, although I have topgear on alot
I know the manifold will eventually rust but as a performance mod i think it works well, my under bonnet temps have dramatically dropped. If i get a few year out of it and have to buy another one I wont mind to be honest.
Just like I buy sticky tyres because I want performance, I would buy long lasting 'plastic' tyres if i wanted them to last a long time.
I can see where your coming from though mate, good feedback :nice:

Can't argue with your reasoning. Manifold wrap does a better insulating job than ceramic coating from what I've seen.

The wrap is also good for power gains aswell due to the exhaust gases staying hotter. Interesting what you say about the decat getting rid of the boom from the N1 while cruising. Im waiting for my decat to be delivered and I also have an N1, and yes it does boom at around 70 on mine. So hopefully get a bit more power, better fuel economy and get rid of that boom too, win win.

When fitting the decat, do you just screw the lambda sensor in to the pipe, is it just a screw fitting?

Thanks,

Ben

Yep agree with you there hornet, it keeps the gases hotter which will flow ever so quicker.

Your cat doesnt have a sensor hole, your lambada will be in your exhaust manifold next to the collector so you need not worry.

Ahh, you know I was just thinking that, as I looked at your pics again and noticed the sensor in your manifold and thought 'ah, maybe it doesnt go on the cat', and now you have just confirmed that. The only worry I have is that I can get the bolts off the cat to remove it and fit the decat. I hate it when you go to do a job and it ends up being nothing but arse ache. Is it just a case of unbolt and place in position and then tighten up the bolts again? Also any hints, tips on getting those bolts off?

bit of a late reply hornet, my apologies, I;ve never really had a problem with these bolts. but yeah it is just a case of unbolting the bolt and spring and then putting them back on, (take note of the direction of the spring etc) - hope you got it sorted mate

Small update,
Awaiting delivery of
Rocket Motorsport M22x cams
Supertech valve springs
Supertech titanium retainers

After I've installed these, my rod bolts will be the weakest part. I'm thinking about ARP rod bolts but can these be installed with the motor still in the car?

Gotta keep it moving so it doesnt seize up whilst being in the garage so I pushed it out and took a few snaps after i'd gave it a bit additional wax

Cheersbud, Dodo juice natural shampoo washed, meguiars clay bar and polish, zymol hdcleanse and zymol glasure glaze to finish it off, works a treat!

I knew someone would mention the exhaust! :( haha.
I'm going to be polishing the full backbox soon so I just left it. I Should of at least polished the tip just for the photos lol.

Lol do you get dressed in front of that car, cuz you could lol
