Hello everyone - this is my 1st ever Jap car, me and my mates are really into them at the moment and after selling my Clio and being off the road I really wanted something that is known, easy to do, easy to work on and generally a pleasure to drive.

This gave way to the Civic, and here's what I know:
-1997 (Facelift or prefacelift?)
- 1 Owner from new (old lady) 69K on clock (bargain!)
- 1.4 Initial
- Has a few scratches and little scuffs here and there

My plans are to:
Exterior:
- Get some different wheels as steels are not for me (if anyone has any for sale or can direct me to somewhere in the forum as im new)

- Lower it (havent made my mind up)
- Jap Exhaust
- Tint back window and rear quarters
- flush bumpers
- new spoiler (as the current one has a huge dent)
- Debadged grille
- Front & Rear Lips
-Rocker Cover
Interior:
-New front seats (recaros, bride or of the like)
- Upgrade speakers
- Colour code interior panels

All comments welcome negative & posiitive  :thanks:

Pre facelift buddy!

looks a nice base for a wee project :)

Thanks mate yeah it is nice to have a blank canvas there is literally THE slightest like finger nail (if not smaller) bit of rust on the gap between the bumper and the rear arch but im sure i can have that sorted?

also any idea whether this is an EK? i know people call them wrong all the time and im probably one :angry2:

yeah, any body shop can sort that out but as long as it's a good job. you could check the inner arches by taking out the rear side plastics (removing seats first) and looking at the metal. Just get it treated if it's just that wee bit and keep the car undersealed yearly to prevent rust.

You have an EJ9. But in generic terms, it's an EK (that's how I see it). If you pop the bonnet and look at the VIN plate (blue plate) above your battery on the passenger side firewall, it should say EJ9 in there somewhere a long with your engine code (D14xxxxxxx...)

Ah sweet ive never been on a forum but you've been proper helpful ..

Quick question: what are your thoughts on banded wheels? haha my friends said i should get them, then lower it but i dont know id still prefer alloys - be nice to see what others think

hahaha I was looking at thatn ot long ago - I would say yes - but I want to do things my self .. you know :)

does anyone happen to know how much 2 bumpers and a tailgate would cost to spray if i do the prep work?

lol i understand, mightbe breaking it soon if i dont get a buyer for it, if you need any parts let me know

No bother mate,

I've never been a fan of banded wheels man, end of the day.. your car, your choice :) forgot to say welcome lol.. personally i'd get some decent alloys

tailgate as in the bootlid? debadging and removing? Well doing the bumpers could be quite a bit of work. because you need to remove the bump strips, then filling the gap and sanding it down then prepping around it. takes a bit of time to do that. I've got a genuine type r front bumper with lip I might be selling on soon but I will be needing to sort out a few dings and sanding it down for most of it to be ready to painted if you're interested in the coming future.

to answer your question in costs, every body shop would be different so you would really need to look around.

Oh sweet thanks guys! and dude that Civic is sweeeeeet ... I havent seen any Comet Clue civics like ever, all the normal colours i come across are the maroon, white, silver and occasionally black never see a blue one and I thought it would be nice to have something different

That spoiler is nice as well.. that a type-r one?

B18 - I may be looking for wheels soon

Any tips or heads up on what to look out for on this car?

Also in relation to you question on the tailgate yes i meant the boot lid - looks like a dog has climb it and scrathed it and has resulted in surface rust - the dog thing may explain the smell aswell

Full Valeting on the weekend! haha

Thanks bud

Just went to see a guy Ive met before about the body work and he said not a problem to prep at home

Thought Id throw a quick update - Just had a quick look at the car properly since i bought it and there are small like maybe 1/2" big at most rust spots and they all look like surface rust but one as bubbled the paint so need to be a bit wary - staying positive though!
