From what I've learned, grounding a wire at a certain place gives the electricity a "road" to go to easier. Whole point of that is because you want the electricity to stay away from the coolant. Or else something called electro-chemical degradation is developed, and at that point it's pretty much like cancer for your motor, and anything the coolant touches (it's rusts and rots from the inside out). I'm pretty sure there are more reasons for grounds, but that's one of the more important ones.

Basically you give an easier path for the electricity to follow, it go that direction., So in a sense you control their direction of movement.
 
i have an earthing kit on mine its not a mugen one just one from an ebay shop very good quality tho looks pretty similar to mugen one, anyways it has made a difference earthing wise as before my windows used to struggle a bit going up/down now however its much better after fitting the kit :)

i know this thread has been awhile now but any of you guys know which each of the wires has been attached to? would it be same attachments on the b16a engine? i want to make an d.i.y of it.
i know it had 9 wires and the 1 is connected to the negative terminal of the battery right?(correct me if im wrong)
