hello all,

just a quick questions i purchased a 97 ek9 replica lip and its a bit rough on the edges and i am basically just want to give it a smother finish. would it be safe to say all i need to do is sand paper off the edges to smooth it out?.. or is it more complicating,

and is there any other way to soften fiber? prior to fitting? for example heating it slightly to soften it up?.. looking forward to your response

Bondo is your answer amigo. Sand down the lip, Bondo the "rough edges", resand it down to a smooth finish then repaint the lip and clear coat it. Bam you're done. Relax with a case of some cold ones of your choice. Thats what I would handle the situation. :D

ohh okz, thnx for that civic duty, what about stretching, lifting a few sections of the lip?.. once fiber has set is there anyway of molding it a bit? using heat?

Fiber glass?

If yes you can use a heat gun from the inside until you can mold it, not too much or the fiberglass can melt, just leave it soft enough so you can blend it to your needs. :)

thnx rvm
yeah its fiber class, im just concern if i melt and mold to shape when it sets is it going to tighten or anything like that?

example: you know when you melt something and you let it set it has a weird wavy pattern you recon that's going to happen as well?

There's a big possibility this could happen, specially if you don't have experience with this but since you will be working with it from the inside you can try to see how it blends first before doing some major blends hehe, but hmmm, I think you should read a lot first before doing this, it might be dangerous, you'll have to use gloves and protective glasses.

hmm.. i C, i was thinking i should place the lip on and then heat it and mold it to the bumper? so thats why it would definitely fit but i don't want it leaving wavy effects.. yeah just concerned about heating from out side, because your saying i should heat from the inside witch is completely understandable.

thnx rvm
