Hi guys,
May be looking into a new LSD in the new year. Was thinking mfactory.
My questions are;
Is the plate LSD £200 better than your geared one?
Is the geared LSD a vast improvement on the OEM ek9 one?
I'm thinking of getting the geared LSD as I had a quaife on another car I had and the diff was quite aggressive compared to the ek9 one.
That car had a lot more power tho so would having more power make the LSD more aggressive?
So basically is your geared LSD a great or minor improvement on the ek9 one?
Just looking for an honest answer because if its not much of an Improvment I'll get your plate one. But if it is a good improvement then I'll get the geared one lol
Thanks

Any experience with an aftermarket torsion type?

You mean Torsen? Nope Plate types work far more effectively.

I'll take you out on my next trackday or japfest if you want then you will get it, car feels like its on rails!

Yeah torsen sorry,
Yeah that would be great to come out with you if possible.
So for you it's plate or go home basically lol
Which diff you using?

Carbonetix, but the spoon, kazz and Mf plate all work the same way. I think!

^ this doesn't really bother me as I don't do many road miles,
If I was to buy 2nd hand then it might become a problem.
Not sure how long they last in general?

Downsides are the noise, and car is harder to get sideways.
Mines 1.5 way and works on aceleration and deceleration

Don't want any sideways action anyway. Car must turn well though. Looking at mfactory or lax money really, unless a 2nd hand unit comes up.

Maybe I'm way off here and don't honestly know much about these, but I always thought the 1.5way was effective in acceleration and a 2way was effective in both acceleration and de-acceleration?

I would love a plated diff especially since my car isn't a daily, Dads DC2 has a Cusco 1.5way and it's nice and snappy lol.

What so you think of the cusco 1.5? Is it very clunky? And what do you mean snappy?

I may be wrong, not sure!

I'm sure I read somewhere that the MFactory, Quaife and OEM Honda helicals all have the same bias ratio?

I know my Quaife felt far more aggressive than the OEM one in my ATR. I'm not sure it's a good thing.

Like if the steering is slighty un-centred and your floor it snaps the wheel straight again with quite some force, if your pulling out of a junction for instance, feel's quite vigorous in general lol. And it doesn't feel particularly clunky.

This is an interesting read!

Thanks mate, I may be fitting a cusco 1.5 LSD soon. And I do like quite aggressive diffs. The OEM isn't harsh enough for me, leaves me without confidence for some reason

1.5 way diff locks completely on acceleration and locks partically on deacceleration
2 way is completely locked on acc and deacc
