aren't the specs basically the same? sometimes improved as long as the kit installed is well fitted

I may be wrong but really good LPG usually means slightly less power and slightly more torque. Economically it's a no brainer!

You'll loose a couple of bhp and a couple of mpg but the cost of LPG is considerably less and if fitted correctly you shouldn't ever know its running gas not petrol

On the plus side, LPG is a fuel with a high octane rating. On the downside, it makes your engine a lot warmer than petrol. So if you are going to track this for a day, I'm not sure wether that would be fine. Besides that, I know LPG requires a little more maintanance (adjusting the valves more often). Not really know a lot about LPG but I do know what I've just written.

I'm gonna say WHY??? :nono:

Obviously if you buy a Type R (or any other sports car for that matter), you are the type of person interested in it's one sole purpose - Performance. This comes at the cost of economy, so why bother with LPG?

I would buy it at a cheaper price and un-plumb it if possible.

I like how it says:
"Lpg converted 71p a litre and is better for the car as its 101 ron
Always run on super unleaded
"

Why? It never hurts to investigate if you can get exactly the same with less costs. I never understand why people come with the arguement that you should throw a lot of money against it without thinking about it. It's never good to toss away a lot of money without thinking about it. Here in Holland we have a 300hp Seat Leon running fine on LPG. How cool is that, 300hp with the petrol costs of a regular Leon.

I agree 100%, its not a bad idea specially if you do a lot of miles. I'm actually thinking about it as i use my car a hell of a lot. I could do one tune for economy and one for performance.

Ford used LPG in the touring cars and they were quicker at 1 point where they not??

Me personally i wouldn't, but there is pro's and con's for everything :run: Good to see a comparison between an LPG one and an unleaded one :nice:

Agree with the above 2 posts, There are a few Civic Type R's racing on the stuff at 300bhp a couple of cars in the BTCC too.

The kits have adanced no end with pretty good ecu's now used one of the better kits is the Prins

Prins Autogas UK

They sponsor a couple of race cars themselves.

Oh......maybe it's just me that doesn't care about fuel economy :p

I'm not saying it's nots good to investigate alternative options, but I'm just expressing that if these cars' (Type R's) target market or audience were concerned with fuel economy then they wouldn't get a Type R or Honda would of plumbed in LPG from the factory.

Nevertheless, each to their own, maybe I'm just too much of a petrol head to think about these things.

you are wrong, how many normal people brought ep3 type r's best selling car for 3 years, not every one has tracked them, its the same with every type r. a sweeping statement like that is ridiculous.

its a good idea, these days cheaper running is a hot topic, people who decide to change and go and find a cheaper way to run will leave people like you behind, not only cheaper but with advancements in tech faster than you too.

^^ OK, OK that's getting too heated and personal buddy^^ What do you mean by 'people like you' ? If you mean, passionate and true to the brand and spirit of a Type R, then yes.

What I say is only my personal opinion and preference, it is not a sweeping statement. If I wanted to run a cheaper car to save money then there are many alternatives, like electric, hybrid, LPG, smaller cc car etc.

But I have bought a Type R and it was designed to run on petrol !

why not own the same car and go faster for the same price as a prius? just saying alternatives seem to be looked at as, not a bad thing, but almost frowned upon.

sorry for being a bit personal,

sorry for being a bit personal,

Handshake accepted mate :D, alternatives are good, but frowned upon by purists like me, but again each to their own, my circumstances are not the same as everyone else's and I wouldn't force that view on everyone.

I apologise for taking up so much space on J888HNT's thread and going off topic without helping much on your question.

I would be interested to know what the performance figures are with this LPG system in a type R and any detrimental effects, although I would't install one myself.

If you buy the car, take also care with some valve lubricant,i don't know about K20's but in general Hondas or other japanese cars that run LPG here in Portugal have lubricated valves. Ex. search for Flash Lube.
