Hi,im running on zeal function coilovers, when going over bumps it makes loud banging noises coming from the drivers rear.It sounds like a bush is metal on metal.I have checked the shock and that is all ok.I have had a quick look at the bushes and arbs and they seem ok but im still unsure.when going over smooth dips in the road it is all ok but then i go over a pot hole it bangs and feels like i have a wheel with no tire. Any ideas? cheers

Probably just be best to sell the Zeals to me

THEN

Check the ARB Links and the Trailing arm Bushes

Its ok matie ill keep them im sure there fine lol what do i check for on the bushes? Its hard to tell if they have gone or not.cheers

make sure the shock is not bottoming out

how low is the car?

Check for play in the TA bushes, check both ARB Links for movement aswell, also your LCA bushes could be away.

Just go over the whole back end and wiggle it all about.

wound about half way down, ive got dc2 16".The tyre is sitting just out of the arch.Dont have a clue how low in (mm)

ive had the shocks on for a year now but i recently replaced the trailing arm because i bent the old one.about 4 weeks after that i got the banging noise.

That wont be bottoming out at that height

Quite an assumption Ross

They could have been lowered by winding down the spring seats thus removing preload from the springs and shortening the travel causing them to bottom out or the springs to dislocate..... Instead of winding down the perches which is how you adjust height properly on seperate height/preload coilovers ;)

No they are not bottoming out.All the shocks are set up the same.It only makes the noise over bumps and small holes in the road. When going round corners its fine.

Jack it up and checkt he springs have enough preload

If not the springs may be dislocating over bumps

Ive had the spings off allready. They look normal to me

Youre not getting what were saying.

Youve told us youve had the Springs seperated from the coilovers?

Seems you have lost the spring preload (spring compression) when refitting the springs to the strut.

This is why youre getting noise over bumps and not round corners

i know what your saying. What your saying dont make sense because when you take the spring off you dont undo anything else, just the top mount and the spring is free. The pre-load stays where it is.These are what they look like

ive known of many sets of zeals to go pop, they may look fine but doesnt mean the seals on the shock resevoir havent gone.

Yes i realise also what your saying now. i was thinking you had stipped the whole shocker down and didnt mark where the lock nuts were.

Hi there.

did you ever find out where the sound was coming from?
I have the same problem at the moment and I just change
to a sleev over kit. Ground Control.

I had the same noise coming from my Zeals.. I sent them to Endless USA and they replaced the valves and bushings..
:nice: to Kent @ Endless for excellent customer service.
