hey guys... as the title says theres a knocking coming from the drivers side (by my feet wen driving) wen i let off from the accelerator as the car slows down and wen i turn a certain angle it happens too? im guessing cv joint? so wen i get a chance to have a look at it and if i dont see greese all around the joint what else could it be? im hoping just the cv joint tho so i can pack it with greese again and off i go

cheers

Sounds like it could be the drop link at the anti roll bar. got the same problem myself. new drop link being delivered tomorrow but damned if I know how am gonna get the old one off.
Suggestions welcome

sounds like the cv joint is it more of a clicking sound when u turn the wheel? wont be an expensive repair m8 :)

It's only if I like veer into the next lane it would knock a bit louder? It's defo a noise of a metal hitting another on rotation?

yeh m8 sounds like a cv joint as said isnt an ex*****ve part to replace :D

Do some figures of 8 in an open space going from full lock to full lock

Generally if a CV is on it's way you will get some bad grumbling on lock

ARB drop links will only happen over bumps and it's more of a metallic sound

If it is when you are pulling off, check out your engine mounts too for wear. With the age of EK9's the mounts tent to be in pretty poor nick by 50k miles

Sounds crazy but check your wheel nuts.
i had this for about 3 days looked under the car to find nothing at all.
My wheels nuts had slightly warped and one of them was working its way off....

it ended up sheering a bolt of the hub....turns out the wheel nuts had a slight stretch in them so were not straight and started to work their way off the bolt.

i knows it a long shot but thought i'd share this with you as it can sometimes being something so small you simply miss it.

Thanks lads... I replaced all lower engine mounts last week as they were knackered... And the noise started happenin bout 2 dats after :/ I'll have to Jack r
the car up, Irish weather is just shitty! Appricate the feed back :)

ah so guess the engine wasnt bolted down properly?
same thing happened to me, accelerating was fine, as soon as i let off, big knocking noise, sounded like my gearbox was dying.
soon found out it was the engine moving up and down lol!

i have the same problem and its the track rod ends not a big job to replace and cheap 2.if u jack the car up from the front and wiggle the rod and it moves then its defo away well thats whats up with mine jus thought i would share..
