I'm thinking of doing a B18 converison, I was goin to do a B16 mid summer but now thinking go big r go home. It will have to be mid summer cause I need to save a bit more money befor I do this. But when the time comes should I buy something like this car and swap everything over ? R what way should I do it?

Used HONDA CIVIC Hatchback 1.8L Car for Sale - Auto Trader UK

Thanks Joe.

1.8vti ?, why not itr conversion if your 'going big or go home' ?

Cause I though that the 1.8 vti (B18C4) which this is, yeah?? Had a better compression rate for a turbo which would be the next step before you drop a K20 in for power, no??

If not does anyone know what the price different is between the vti and the itr B18??

From looking about and seeing various turbo builds it does seem the B18c4 is the more common for the turbos as they do have a lower compression ratio. B18CR = 11:1:1, B18C4 10:0:1.

This is the conversion I will hopefully be doing in my EG. The B18c4 is my choice due to I guess it's the more cost effective way, plus I will probably end up the turbo'ing it eventually.

As for conversion costs, you can purchase a MB6 Honda civic which already has the engine, gearbox, loom, ECU, etc for around £500 whereas in my experience the cheapest I have seen a B18cR's sold for is £1200. So you can see there is a brave difference

But what I has also found that the gearbox that comes with the c4 has longer ratios than the S80 box that comes with the B18cR. So what I will be doing is also purchasing an S80 gearbox for the shorter ratios, then If/when I turbo it put the original gearbox back it and make more use of the turbo

At the end of the day it's dependent on how much you wanna spend

Very good choice of engine swap for your future plans ,but would it not be better to try and get a lower mileage car for your swap?

When the time comes I will look for a lower mileage car, I just put that car up so people would have something to look at and know what I was on about. The engine will be standard for awhile before I get a turbo put in,at lease until I get broad of the vtec an look for more power.

Thanks for the help lads,
Joe

Good luck with the swap! Doing it at home you`ll study better the process ... :nice:
