i have an 1999-00 civic vti, its an obd2b ecu with a factory immobilser, i want to run either a spoon ecu or ek9110 ecu both in which do not come with one?

anyone know how to remove it?

thanks

on the european and possibly usdm cars the key has an in built code and around the ignition barrel there is a sensor, unless the key ha the rite code the car will not start, and in some way tells the euc this, if i wana swap the ecu for say spoon ek9 one (ek9's do not come with an immobiliser) the wire is not there and the ecu will not be able to start..... hence problem

Ive found this thread as Im looking for an answer similar to the original post, so maybe someone can help?

Im able to get a OBD1 spoon ecu (P30) for a EG6, and plan to use it on my Ek4 which is OBD2A. It is coming with a OBD1 to OBD2B harness, so will sort something out to convert to OBD2A. It was being run in a facelift EK4 and previously an EG6.

But, as my car is a UK model, will I have any issues with the immobiliser?

As it was run in a EK4, im guessing it will be ok? But does that mean the immobiliser will be disabled, or it will be working like normal?

no clue how to do it but i know someone that did it themselves so def not that hard. i think u just remove a chip and add a resistor in the ecu.
heres a good link

The immobiliser should not be a problem once you use a ecu with no immobiliser

The immobilizer is in your factory ecu. once you remove that your fine. You can run any ecu that dosn't have one built in after that.
