I'm going to do a rebuild on a b18c in a few eeks and im about to order some pistons. 81mm is the stock bore but I'm going to hone the cylinders so the new rings will have a nice new surface to bed into.

The question is, Do I need oversized rings? Or does honing not effect the bore size as it's just a polish clean?

Thanks in advance :D

Honing is only a way of de-glazing the bores and providing a new bed in layer...

Largely oversized pistons will need a new bore..

What size pistons you getting? 81.25mm?

I'm hoping to stay stock and re-use the pistons OR buy a new set of stock pistons.
So to stay 81 with an hone? Or is that not possible? Will I have to go oversized a little even just for an hone?

honing just breaks the glaze. use stock size rings. when u bring your block to the machine shop for the hone your gonna bring your pistons and rings and if theres a problem with clearances he'll let u know.
