Hey guys,
I'm from South Africa and I own a 1999 4 door b16a Vtec Sedan.
I'm about to begin my b18c GSR turbo swap & looking in the 550/600whp range.

See pics below, but please ignore the wing.

Here is where I need some assistance. I recently stumbled upon a 2 door sedan here in SA, & became fixated with the idea of owning one. You just don't get them locally, & I've ALWAYS wanted one. Plenty 2 door hatches, but I'm not a fan, & besides, I prefer the handling of the sedan.

The asking price on this 2 door, however, is astronomical, taking into account that the car actually needs allot of work. So I began toying with the notion of importing one. The shocker that I received is that these cars sell for significntly less in the UK. Perfect example, my 4 door sedan (Ballade) will sell for 75 000 rand, i.e. on an exchange of 12.3 :1, thats over 6000 pounds. You guys will pick them up for what, 2000 pounds? I've seen 2 sedan coupes here, a silver one for 650 & a blue for 1600.

The big question: does anybody have the contacts to help me import one of these?

Welcome, that's something different than what everybody has :D

Lol, I'm not sure if thats a positive or negative statement....

I know it's a bit rice, but this was from a long time ago. Plans are to repaint it completely silver, & I do have a Chargespeed lip. The wing is long gone.

Lol, not quite correct, & a bit of slang thrown in, but close enough. :win:

Not returning it entirely to oem, but when it's completed, I'm sure some will appreciate the end result.

You should get some oem back lights maybe not fond of lexus's lights on anything :p

B18 turbo :drool: that will be a absolute rocket! You have a loads of part's aswell for the car, fair play to ya! Must keep this thread updated and get some videos up of the finished product, whats the honda scene like in SA?

I'm actually going to be doing the Laminex tint over both the head lights & tail lights, so the lexus look will be diminished somewhat, & may actually look good a bit more subtle. If it does not, then I'll get semi-clears & tint those instead.

With 84mm pistons & a B20 crank, it's actually going to be more akin to a 2000cc LS build, but with the benefit of a Vtec block.

I will post through the course of the build, but my 700whp, 2jzgte Mk2 Supra Project will have to be completed before I begin this.

Honda scene is reasonably big, but nowhere close to the US & UK scene. Maintenance on a Honda is not really that low locally, relative to say a Golf 1 which is a firm fav. Especially with 2.0 8/16v turbos, or VR6 turbos. Toyota 20V's or 4AGE/AGZE's are popular too. Believe it or not, the Golf 1 stopped production in SA just last year, or the year before.....
