hey guys,

im looking for high torque for my EK9 engine B18C, so which cam is recomended. i have go through many threads but coudnt not find a answer.

compare to JUN3 / TODA A & B which is more perfect for high torque?

you need a decent cam coup[led with a decent compression rise to make it work properly, what CR are you aiming for and with what pistons?

Toda spec B is a 'pure' torque gaining cam. However as olly said, you need to be running fairly high c/r for it to achieve its maximum potential.

hey guys thanks for the reply . my cp pistons 82mm 12.5 CR, im kinda noob can u guys guide me on setup ? at the moment me planin to change cam, for street use. and sometime for drag.

Thank you.

Someone running 82mm 12.5 pistons doesn't sound like a noob setup?

Also im quite intrested in this question? I was thinking along the lines of Crower cams as they seem cheaper than the likes of Toda's.

Plus i was wondering how much extra CR would be recomended to gain properly, as mine will be a daily driver.

Skunk2 Pro1 cams as they have a nice big primary lobe aswell ;)

very good street cam but it depends on what you want to use your motor for?

skunk1 Pro1s require 11.1 compression
Pro2's 12.1
Pro3's 13.1

Id be running them in a light skimed ITR B18C so will be around 11.5 ish.

Correct me i im rong but i always thought the skunk2 Pro 1's had quite close to the std type R non Vtec lobes and a slightly wilder Vtec lobe. Is just what i have heard from other tuners. Maybe getting mixed up with Skunk2 stage1's and Skunk2 Pro1's im to not sure??

If looking for torque throughout instead of peak figures and top end power i was advised Toda B's, Crower 402's or 402a's for a milder off Vtec.

Would be intresting to see how the skunk2 Pro1's compare

11.5 is ideal, I'm about 11.73 with my build.

Na the Pro1's have a big non Vtec lobe aswell. Your right with the tuners getting mixed up, the old Tuner stage1/2's had smalled non vtec lobes, the Pro'1 make slightly more power up top, but a huge gain in the midrange compared the stage2's.

You need bigger off vtec lobes to give you that mid range but not as big as vtec. Then an even bigger vtec lobe is needed to carry on the power up the top of the rev range.

check this out Pro1 v Stage2
Skunk2 Racing: B16A-B18C 1.6/1.8L DOHC VTEC - PRO 1+
Also note the power on that graph is WHP not BHP.

Also Pro1's are an awesome turbo cam too if you ever go down that route.

Not read much on Crower but I know Toda B's are a very good cam though, specifically aimed at b16's for their mid range gain that the 1600 misses, and they are going to be good quality same as skunk2.

(ps sorry I sound like a skunk2 sales rep! but I've had rocket motorsport cams that broke and trust skunk2 now) haha.

Cool thats just wat I needed. I heard the crower ones were very similar to the Toda B's and alot cheaper so think its goin to be between the Crowers and Sk2 Pro1's as dpendant on funds and what i can find. Toda's seem to be quite rare and thus more expensive.

Cheers
