I'm looking for a high output alternator which kicks out 200 amp, does anyone know where I can get one in the uk.
Thanks
Dan

You might need to run two alternators to supply that kind of current demand

From the states you can easily get 260amp alternators...
I'm building a audio car for my business at car shows, I'll be running 10 x 10" subs
7000w rms via 2 amps
4 x 8" mids in each door, run by 2 x 800w rms amps

To help power all this will be 5 batteries...

Just need hi output alternator to help cope...

Thanks

Could you not run another alternator off the pulley instead of the aircon pump? Not sure how would you go about fitting it tho, would probably require some sort of bracket to be fabricated.... But I guess getting the correct alternator from the states if it is not readily available in the uk is going to be easier.

What's eld ?

Yeah it's looking like an alternator from the states, think there about £300 delivered.....
Would of preferred one from uk incase it ever was faulty...

Electronic load distributor.
I don't see why he said remove it though.

stinger make high output alt's 350 amps
I done it before running two 2 alts one on power steering and one in normal place
probelms are you need a fairly big engine to drive drive them on idle my 1.2 clio would almost cut out with sound system playing
what you need the 200amps for a sound system ?

Electrical Load Detector I think is what its called.
I dont think it can be removed, its controlled by the ECU/ECM.
If the ECU does not detect an electrical load it turns off the alternator...most audio setups will not put a load at the sample point as most setups run directly from the battery and bypass the ELD.

Hondata allows this to be simply switched off via software.
