Help ! Speedo doing all kinds of funny stuff

hi guys

So heres the problem:

My speedo works 100% fine with the headlights turned off, however as soon i turn the headlights on, the rev stops working, the fuel and temp needle goes right to the top and comes back down if i turn the headlights off.

any ideas ?

Check all your earths

checked all, and they are fine.

any other ideas ?

What i would do:
1.take the cluster out and check for corrosion/rust/short circuit causes of any short ( never happened before but theres a first time for anything)
2.check all fuses one by one
3.check earths and wiring with an ohm meter
4.unplug the headlights and watch the speedo then
5.inspect the wiring in the steering column for wares
6.secure VSS plug and spray electric contacts spray in it

I know this is an old thread but someone may find it useful.

The problem was ground related, I secured all the ground again and the problem went away.
