HELP is my engine really a B16b?!

All B16Bs are PR3-3 doesnt matter what year. B18C would have a different number between 96, 98 and 00spec. But B16B always PR3-3 as theres only 1 spec EK9.

My b16b has PR3-4 on the head. Its a 2000 Model

I’m by no means an expert at this but I agree with JUGBUGZ 16b bottom + 16a head .

So heres whats up.

The Intake manifold, fuel rail, valve cover, are not b16b

But there is the green paint and dual valve springs.


I'm not happy with the mixing of parts, I really want to get to the bottom of this.

Sounds to me like it probably is a B16B head. As for the cams, who knows?! If he has taken the time to change the fuel rail, intake manifold and cam cover, who's to say he hasn't changed the cams to B16A as well?! He may have just thought the heads were the same bar the cams + intake + fuel rail and so left the springs, retainers etc....

A tad strange......

So have you spoken to him about it yet?! If so, what reason did he give for the fuel rail and intake being from a B16A?!

I spoke to him today.

So he had it in an sir when I test drove it, and the intake manifold is from that so he wouldn't have to change the wiring and just put it in. he said if I want the type R intake manifold I can just take the one I have off and we can trade.

Makes sense.

So I guess the only real WTF I know about now is the valve cover, its originally black which is dumb.

is this the right ECU? lol the guy gave me the SIR one by accident in the first place, so I don't trust him to know which one is which.

he should have put it on there in the first place !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this guy sounds dodgy don't buy of him again.

i can't imagine how i would be if someone did that to me and then went " oh you can have the type r inlet mani if you want "

Make sure you get the EK9 intake, throttle body doesn't matter since they are the same!

I do have the Intake, not sure its EK9 though, might be an SIR.

Should I get the EK9 intake manifold?

I have yet to find a shell for the engine, when I bought it I had a 2000 cx, but sold it as a shell for $2100 Canadian. I was like sure... I only paid $1400 and it needs a paint job, door windshield, and fender.

I figure I can find a shell at a way better price, already found two possibilities.

I don't know if I should just wait until I find a shell, then get the EK9 Intake mani... I think I have to pay for a wiring job then?
