fuel pressure gains?

if i were to go out and buy a decent fuel pressure regulator would i see any gains apart from a little bit torque increase? obviously id buy supporting mods to go along with it. ie ex manifold, intake, full system, maybe cams etc?
 
no, zero gains, you are misunderstanding the purpose of a fuel pressure regulator.

As i stated there is no gains to be had with a fuel pressure regulater, my Honda has 333whp, it uses a factory regulator, i also have an AEM FPR but i never installed it because i would gain 0whp.

FPR become important when you want to make big power, say you have 1000cc injectors but you still need more flow, with a good pump and fpr you can raise your base pressure so that your 1000cc injetors will flow maybe 1200cc or more. Your fuel system has two components to it, pressure and volume, neither make power they simply need to be setup properly in order to tune the car properly, 90% of honda's have no use for a FPR.
 
Useful to lower duty cycle of the injectors (by increasing pressure) when they are maxed out. Also increasing pressure may result in better spray pattern improving fuel atomization.

u can't say there are no gains from bumping fuel pressure alittle bit on a i/h/e car. is it the right way how to do it? not at all but how do u think people used to adjust before the hondata days and chip days even before s-afc and vafc.

True though most injectors can't handle the additional pressures needed to actually increase atomization, the bosche 1000cc's are the only ones ive seen that can handle about 100psi!

Ah i see someone has been around for a while, you are correct, i have seen it add like 3 whp on some cars, but as you said its not the right way to do things, and considering they are nearly $200 which is almost the same price of a proper EMS or even VAFC i see no reason to use them at all, its like using an FMU for a turbo setup, sure they used them in the past, but its just about your worse option.

yes sir bought an 99 civic si back in late 1998 as my first honda. i agree at the very least u can get a chrome setup for very cheap now a days. lol i remember running the 12.1 fmu *****+240cc inj and then the 6.1 pill with 440cc on the vafc, what a mess those setups were. agreed, bumping fuel pressure and fmu's are a terrible way to go now but they do work.....to a point:)

Might add fuel at the top end, but it does the same on light throttle & idle too...so it will cripple fuel consumption

For fine tuning of fuelling/ignition an aftermarket ECU is the way forward..

An adjustable FPR is a terribly crude method of adjusting fuelling. The fact that we DO now have aftermarket ECU's & other methods means it really is a poor choice of modification IMO

As for gains it really depends on what the standard AFR is like. On a STOCK UK ITR with breathing mods for example, power is made by leaning out the AFR in VTEC as they are mapped so rich from the factory...
