One of my co-workers was complaining the other day about how ugly his engine bay was in his RX7 so i borrowed his manifold for a night and this is what i came up with.

i forgot to take some before pictures but it looked similar to this

i started out with some 400 grit sand paper to even up the surface, followed the 400 with 1000 grit, followed by "0000" steel wool (all the sanding was done wet with WD-40)

finished it up with some mothers aluminium polish paste

ive been trying to clean up my manifold like this. was at it for nearly 4 hours using a wire wheel bit on an electric drill but it came out notthing like that haha. would i be better off using this method?

I tried finishing off a rocker my mate had started.. 10minutes later i got bored! Could not be bothered for that much effort into something that is covered by the bonnet 99.9% of the time lol

Ooooo do not use a wire wheel! It's far too course and can actually damage the part, it will leave deep scratches which isn't what u want that's why I did a staged wet sand.
