Exhaust ban

i know in scotland it is 98db and the police do it by ear give u a spot fine £30 but think its gone up to £40 now. but u can go to court and proove them wrong and get away with it but u need to get your db cheaked by a specalist.

I faced the same problem just a few months ago. I have a peugeot 106, and I had fitted an exhaust I got cheap from ebay. Then it was VRT time. I had the dB checked and it was far too high. so now, for vrt's I pull out the exhaust and put in the standard one:p after VRT its back again on the car. A few weeks ago an officer ordered me to stop, it was clear it was about the noise. He came up to me and asked me what brand it is!! to believe that! he had a peugeot built for hill climb competitions and wanted a proper exhaust.

bdw how much do you need to rev the engine up to calculate the dB?

ok this is what i said:

i know california law is 94dB

and this was your response:
IIRC there is no law on dB level for exhausts in UK!

If I am wrong, please correct me with some proof!

im not sure if you noticed but i said CALIFORNIA which is in the usa, i dont live in the uk, i dont know what uk law is, and i never said i did.

My tuner was saying the same thing is going to happen in the UK next year too.Are you in Northen Ireland dude?. Basically they're coming down hard on anyone with a noisey exhaust. The government seem to find lame ways each year to waste tax payers money:angry2:

Well I guess some things remain the same on your side of the pond, lol

My ek9 with a decat and mugen twinloop was an amazingly low 85 DB......
