hello everyone, i have a b16a engine, is about 155k on it, recently there is tapping noise coming from the engine. i then took it to a honda tuning garage, they listen the engine and said is the valve lifters was tapping so it needs to get replace.they say it will cost 500euro to get fix cos it has 8 valve lifter and they will have to take out cams etc so it will be expensive on the labour.
i want to know does this happen to anyone before? what did you do to fix it? i change the engine oil, flush with a engine flush before an oil change, used a valve lifter additive product, but still tapping coming back.
let me know what you guys think of this problem.
thanks everyone.

Wouldn't Valve Clearance sort out your tapping problem?

yea as above get the valve clearences checked and adjusted mine was on
65k and sounded a bit tappety and got the clearences adjusted and made a big difference :nice:

valve clearance? is that why when i start my engine cold in the morning i cant hear any tapping noise, and when is warm up it starts to tapping. and sometime when i drive back from work it taps alot and then stops tapping, so the noise is like, gone and come back again, gone and come back again. so you guys think is not the valve lifter then?
and how much to get a valve clearance then? i heared it need to fix it at main honda dealer cos is need to put back original factory setting.

They are very fiddly if you haven't got the genuine adjusting tool. Just take it along to Honda and let us all know how it is after.
Thanks Duncan

I think is a problem from lost motion assemblies not valve clearance.

My car do the same and my valve clearance is set at the factory spec.
