How easy/hard is it?

Do you recommend DIY or getting someone to do it?

Surely it's a lot of effort and risk to try and protect the electricals?

Thanks

had mine steam cleaned yesterday afternoon at a local car wash I was a bit warey aswell . Basically I popped the bonnet then he coated the engine bay in foam , allowed it to sit for about 3 minutes then blasted it all off with a high pressured washer with a very small nossel spraying lightly with warm water . result was class . Ill be doing it regularly . had no probles at all afterwards .

seems very hit and miss, 1 thing ive always been reluctant to do since owning my car so just go over bay once or twice a year with cleaner and cloth

loads of people steam clean/foam and rinse and have no probs but then always cases where electrical faults come up (covering battery and dizzy in bag is common practice)

I wouldint really advise doing it on a regular basis, when you do it its a good idea to leave the car running otherwise you might find it hard to start if water gets in the leads. You can buy good engine cleaning products like muc off/ autoglym etc but they require a bit more elbow grease.

i've always power hosed my engine when washing the car and never had problems, i just take care not to soak the battery, alternator, fuse boxes, dizzy, alarm etc
After washing run the engine with the bonnet down to dry it and then spray AUTOGLYM RUBBER AND VINYL CARE sparingly over the engine bay and leave the bonnet down to dry and viola!!!!
