hi guys have a few question am thinking of putting a k20 into ma 9 and was wondering do i need to change the gearbox and ecu aswell and any other parts

yes. u need to change a little more than that, have u tried having a search? there is info on here about it

Need to change loads of stuff mate, subframe, mounts, gearbox brakes etc etc

Give hond-R a call, guy called Maz helped me alot. Took alot of time and explained the whole process to me etc and the various cost. They've done an ek before.

There a couple of pics they sent me:

Im also considering doin this swap. What kind of money would the whole swap cost? I didnt think you had to change the subframe?

u dont need to change the subframe or the brakes at all!!!!u change the engine gearbox..the driveshafts u get from Ha sport dependin on ur needs(ur curent brake set up)an the ek9 an k20 wirin loom get sent to them to be joined together u change for Ha sport custom engine mounts u change the exhaust as well everythin else is small enuf stuff!

Ya I taught so alrite. Icetronics charge 8grand I think for the full swap including engine. If a person had the time do you think most this work could be carried out by urself?

its no harder than a normal engine swap once u have all the parts an the no how....iv helped put a k20 into a 1.4i civic i put the engine in cos iv an engine crane but the guy that owned it did everythin else in his own garage...but if uv ever done an engine swap before u'll be able to do it no problem.

It's recommended that you change the subframe to an EG/DC for better header clearance.

the subframes do need to be changed so the engine doesnt sit too high etc.

He told me to budget around £10000 for the complete conversion  thats why i opted to stick with the b16

and theres nae danger i'd be running a k20 on stock brakes.....

Seriously, don't start this swap, if you do not know what you are beginning at. It's not the easiest swap to do, you will have to modify quite some stuff. It's not all plug & play.
If you want lots of good info, you have to check out the K20A.org website:
K20A.org .:. The K Series Source . Honda / Acura K20a k24a Engine Forum - Powered by vBulletin

The swap will cost you about 7000-8000€, that is about 5800£ if you do it all by yourself, and get good prices for the parts!

Quick overview of what you will have to buy/change:
- K20 engine + gearbox + complete engine wiring loom
- Engine mounts (Hasport) (EKK2 is best)
- LCA's + subframe + steering rack from EG/DC2 chassis
- swap axles
- DC5 shifter box + shifter cables
- Karcepts shifter mounting kit
- swap header
- conversion harness
- aftermarket engine managment system (Hondata K-pro ?)
- aftermarket fuel rail
- aftermaret intake
- custom exhaust pipe
- custom fuel lines
- custom power steering lines
- custom radiator hoses
- EP3 radiator or aftermarket one
- slim fan for radiator

Well, that's about it i think.
If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask them. Be sure to check out that website though ! Everything you need to know about the K-swap is on that forum, really everything! :D

:nice:

cheers guys did not think it would be that hard or that much its given me something to think about:shocked:

It's not THAT hard to do. But you have to know what things you will have to modify to do the swap. You have to know what you are getting yourself into, because otherwise, if you just start doing it, your gonna have to scratch/smak your head several times :D

Good preparation is the key, I think. Once you have bought all the necessary parts, and you know what you have to do, it's not that hard. But you have to have some mecanic skills if you want to do it all by yourself.

Yeah icetronix do the full conversion for €8000 including engine and tuning but its only a uk spec ep3 engine with no lsd...

Budget ten grand! Holy hondas, is it worth it?! For a 2.5k gearbox build you would eat the Icetronix k20 for breakfast..

yes it should cost a bomb around 12000USD and abit more for UK. Thats what it costs here anyway. How many ek9s can you buy?

If anyone pulls it off, it'd be one heck of a WEAPON. Mid 12secs 1/4mile passes stock engine.

That yellow engine bay is HOT!!!
