Engine Not Getting Up Temperature

Bit of a problem here, when Im sitting idle for a while, the water temperature gauge will rise to about half way and the fan will kick in as it should but when i start to drive or move anywhere, the temperature gauge drops to freezing cold again. Can anyone help please?

Don't know if it matters but I am running a Koyo dc2 radiator, would this be too big for the engine (only very basic stuff done it)? Its a b16a2

Also the thermostat was put in boiling water and it opened up fine

Is the rad way too big for the car? Over-cooling?
Maybe someone with more knowledge could be more of help to you!

did you test at what temp water the thermostat opened at?

the rad will only cool but if the waters too cold the thermostat will shut

No, will test the thermostat this week and see what temperature it opens at

sounds as if the the thermostat is stuck open,rather than shut.

If the thermostat is stuck open, what would fix it? Just buy a new one?

sounds like the same prob I had when I first got my 9. Just bought myself a new thermostat and thermostat switch from Honda and Sorted!!
