Hi just a quick question;

What are the visual differences between the B16b and a B18c engines?

To me they look identical! I was just wondering if an insurance company would know the difference in the unfortunate case of an accident?

Cheers,
Josh..

The fact that one says B18C and one says B16B.

The engine code is very clear on them and easy to see.

Just declare it....

I understand your honestly and will probably end up declaring it when the time comes.

So is the "B18c" stamped on the bottom of the engine and the little metal plate near the radiator?

Yup.. Also the intake mani is diff. The b18c1(gsr) has a diff manifold as the ctr b16b.

has anyone declared a b18c in an ek9?
what was the difference in price?
anyone declared a turbo conversion?

On this site when they say b18c they are generally referring to the ITR engine and when we say b18c its whats the same as the US spec GSR b18c1 so for this thread the only difference (visually) is the stamp on the block :nice:

i didnt tell my insurance company
when i crashed my old car it was inspected by someone from a local body shop that had an account with my insurance. those guys couldnt care less and i couldnt picture them comparing your engine and chassis codes. all they are interested in is the damage and wether its fixable

I'm sure they will do a more thorough check if you rear end a more expensive and luxery car or god forbid knock a child down or something.

They will look for anything and use it as a get out claus.

With my Glanza, it was fully loaded, forged, different turbo, everything that could be changed was replaced with aftermarket parts. My modification list was as long as my arm and I declared every single mod..everything.

The company I am with are mod friendly and game me a quote on my BHP..which was 275hp and were happy with all my mods and was on a like for like basis.

There are no excuses.

Personally, I don't know why people buy cars and mod them if they can't afford the extra premium for modifications, but we are all different.
