Anyone know weather it's safe to use engine flush in our B16B/B18C engine's?????
I am just about to do a full service on my 9 (the 9's xmas prezzie:lol:) & was wondering weather to use it or not!

Just im sure i have read somewere that some engine's not liking it????

Cheers in advance guy's!:nice:

Don't use it.

It does try to get rid of metal filings and things like that, but in turn clogs up the journals/galleries in the engine.

Saw it on a Best Motoring episode, was advised dont to be used on Type R engines by Mr Spoon himself.

Is there anything like this that can be used that does the same job?

just buy cheep ish oil run it for 10mins then drain it and put good oil back in. thats what i done. but that engine flush stuff is crap

me and a friend used it before, and never again!, it ruined the rings and smoked like hell after:angry:
dont even use cheap oil to do a flush, its never worth the risk, as cheap oil can cause the same damage as the flush stuff,
best bet is to do a normal oil change, but then change it again after a few hundred miles:nice: its the easiest risk free way to getting the bad stuff out:) then just carry on at normal intervals

Not recommended for a type r engine.

Just change your engine oil every 3750 - 4000 miles if you drive "hard" or for short distances, (5 miles or less every trip).

Agree. Ruins seal, rings etc. A more frequent oil change is all it takes.

I alway's change it every six month's or 3000-4000 mile!

I was just wondering weather it was worth using?? but Obviously NOT!!! lol.
Cheers for your reply's guy's!!:nice:

When you guys say change every 3-4k miles. Is that using fully synthetic oil too?!
Oilman recommends change at every 9-13k on fully syn.
Im now comming up to 6k

thats just silly, thats probably based on a non performance engine being driven by a granny.
13k? if you drive hard the oil could be getting pretty ****ed, its never worth the risk for the sakes of a gallon of oil and a filter.
i believe honda recomends 6k intervals on fully synthetic, and thats with normal driving conditions!!! i'm sure they know whats best for the engines they designed!

You are correct on this one HOWEVER i still change mine every 2-3k. Its to do with better quality oils keeping there lubricating properties longer. Cheap oil loses it quickly which is the stuff that honda puts in as standard.

I've always used engine flush with no problems in ALL my cars.

I won't be anymore....

No Opie oils are a highly respected company and they certainly no there stuff. Those intervals where also given to me inc track driving using Silkoline Pro 5W 40 fully synthetic.

Honda assume its driven by a granny

I would personally love to see a granny in a B18C EK9 :win:

i'm not saying opie oils are idiots, but advising 13k oil services is ****ed up, i'm sure others will agree.
infact i think thats bad advice, imagine 13k oil in a 10 yr old engine(like ours) with slightly worn piston rings, you think of the state that oil would be in,
i'l stick to my 3000 mile changes thanks!

I agree thats why i still change mine frequently. I think it was explained to me as you CAN go longer between intervals safely because the oil is keeping its properties better. 13k does sound particularly high though...

unless they'r talking kilometers, not miles:)
personally, i wouldn't like to go with a comprimise like that, and another important thing is how long is the oil filter actually good for?
