Ok folk im scratching my head a bit with this one so in need of some help.

I have a civic jordan rally car which i have fitted a B16b engine into. I have used the wiring loom from my original b16a2 and mated that up to a conversion harness from cpl which is plugged into a p28 ecu with hondata.

The problem i found the day before my last rally was that my car was not charging and the speedo had stopped working. I changed both the altenator and speed sensor drive but the problem was still there. I then found that the speed sensor fuse had blown. tried fitting new one but as soon as ignition was switched on the fuse blew. After a process of elimination we found that having the main power cable removedfrom the altenator the speedo would work and the fuse would stay intact. In order to compete in the rally we connected the battery straight to the altenator and car ran fine all day long.

I have now removed the wiring loom and opened it up expecting to find a short between the altenator power cable and a speed sensor wire but found nothing.

Anyone out there had the same problem? or suggest what i try next.

cheers

Neil

Are you sure nothink is shorting anywhere ? There's no water inside the VSS sensor plug is there ?

ok...mine had the same issue, but it was the o2 wiring shorting out, of all things.

...have you checked the alt fuse?

how is the easiest way to check if any of the connections are shorting out?
