I'm on the hunt for an EK9 currently. Facelift model if possible, but will consider pre facelift.

I'm looking for a very original, unmodified car preferably with lots of history. Not interested in tracked cars, cars with coilovers and wheel swaps, or engine swaps, and so on. Holy grail, I know. To give an idea of what I'm after - I would much prefer a car still on it's original paint and needing a little tlc, than a resprayed example which is 'mint'.

If you have something for sale which fits the bill, or know of one - please get in touch. Have a decent budget for the right car.

Thanks

Why don't you think about going down the import route, you can be specific about the car you want to bid on?
I've got one arriving in a few days into Southampton......very clean and un-molested - take a look at my thread in the newbie section, the underneath is spotless! :nice:

A lot of ek9 get sprayed repaired on import as Don most imports. You will almost certainly not import a mint car.
However. They do creep up from time to time when enthusiasts have owned them years.
They are a dying breed now.
All the best with your search. Im sure you'll find something of merit soon!

Not at all true. Plenty of non-damaged cars go through daily. You are made fully aware if a car has been re-sprayed or repaired in Japan.

To the op, clean 9s do come up, and here is the best place to find one. The majority of cars on here are well known by members so you can get a good insight into its history. Importing is an option, but be prepared to pay a lot if you go through an import company.

Yes totally agree and this was my experience, you get a report which is done by people looking at the cars every day, the Japanese are fastidious with detail.....
To the op....its helps to go through a reputable importer, so do your homework should you choose this route.....but as mentioned it can be expensive but you set your bidding price...

This may well be true. I stand by my statement that you won't find a mint 15 year old ek9 on import. I have seen them creep in around the 10k mark. Very rarely. I tried importing a minter from torque GT a long time ago now. They said it was simply not possible within a reasonable time frame and budget.

Fair enough....i agree a mint car would be difficult nearing impossible, i got mine for less than the figure you mention but i know they have been going for more....mind you that is on the road price too.

I think mine looks quite straight, and im pleased from the pictures....Torque GT did me proud :nice:

It lands on Monday now so I'll know soon enough. :naughtyx:

You won't find a mint 15 year old car full stop. However you will pay over the odds through Torque.

Thanks for the replies

I'm not wholly opposed to importing (and have done so before with cars I've owned), but to be honest given the EK9's age now, I'd prefer a car that's been over here a while and has extensive UK history, or is at least known on these forums. Also I do have a schedule to get the car within, and whilst it probably could be imported in that schedule, it would be tight.

I know it's difficult to find a wholly original car in exceptional condition these days and I'm fully acceptive of the fact that they're getting to 15+yrs old, but nonetheless I thought this would be the place to find the best example I can. I'm not expecting to pay peanuts for a cherished example either, if the car is a very good one then I'll be happy to talk a fair figure with the seller which reflects this.
