Hi

I have an EK9. The past few weeks i've had random intermittent problems.

While driving or at idle, car would just shut off. No, stuttering, just cuts off. Stereo and headlights are still on. I clutch in and then restart the car and no problems at all.

Happens sporadically.

I've searched on Honda-tech and a lot of people have the same issue. They are pointing it to the 'ignition switch'. They had a recall in America with this issue too.

Question is did they have a recall to JDM EK9?

Also anyone experienced a similar issue with their EK9 and replaced the ignition switch to fix it?

How to replace the ignition switch or troubleshoot (Honda, Acura) or Honda Service Bulletin - Faulty Ignition Switches.

Sounds to me like an ignition switch problem. My dad's Honda CR-V had a problem exactly like the one your describing and it turned out to be the ignition switch. Inside the switch are little electrical copper contacts that wear down (pretty much in the same way that brushes wear down in motors). You could nurse it by cleaning the contacts up with some WD-40 and a little wire brush, but that's only a short term solution.

my mate had a similar problem recently and it was his main relay situated under the glovebox on the left.
