EK4 Track Car


If this engine showed 187bhp on ITR cams I would say that the bottom end is stock, cause we have in poland couple of setups with ITR+PCT on b16s and something about 200bhp is a standard.

Ofcourse overall - very nice build :)

How can a stock block B16A2 put out as much power as a B18C6 with the same cams?

How does PCT pistons and ITR cams (same as B16B) put out more than B16B?

Someone's being a bit optomistic with their figures there methinks...
 
i thaught the same but anyway hope with a b18 bottom end + p73 pistons will get my 200bhp

few more pics doing things right and left a bit because need some tools that i've lent to people so cant take it all apart and need to find a way of dropping the engine without a propper lift lol

anyway pics of the denty roof after some poking of screwdrivers through holes and banging with a hammer totaly the wrong tools to do this but it's turned out well on the roof :







 
Can't you use a DA for some of that? Will you be using a 2pac paint?

Looks very good Mally, what colour will it end up?
 
what do you call a DA mate ? and 2pac paint lol don' know what that is.

and colour urm i like the silver but but but i'm thinking spoon yellow ...
 
Oh, I thought you said you worked in a car bodyshop in your thread about fiberglass panels?

By 'DA' I meant Dual Action sander and 2 pac is a paint type which is very dangerous for home use but is used in the industry because it is harder than most alternatives.

I'd go for yellow :)
 
i do but i work in france so im more to terms with the french words mate my technical english is rather poor.

and no it's water based paint that i'l be using i'l post some pics of the clear coat box tomorrow if you want.

and yeah i like the look of the spoon yellow just want somthing flat or metalic no fancy crap.

so yeah either that or a nice metalic colour i can find was thinking about green or somthing too not sure
 
Make sure you do a write up of how you do it! :) I got an electic one for around £40 from eBay, saves oodles of time!

Will you use a water based clearcoat too?
 
it's not fully waterbased i believe over here base coat is all waterbased stinks like **** aswell.

but the clear coat is still not up to the standard. anyway i'm only using cheap clear coat i got 8 liters for 90 quid. end of line stuff so well worth the buy.

what size is ur DA ?

But the roof is the only thing thats got allot of dents in i'm going to coat it with polyester stuff dunno what you call it in UK it's like undercoat but fills in holes at the same time then you put your standard undercoat over the top, it's like body filler only you can spray it on.

other than that the rear wings hardly need anything doing to them same for the rest just getting the underseal off the car the problem. also i dont know what to do to treat the underside of the car use the same stuff as on the suspension bits or do the same as standard but paint it the same as the body colour too ...

Anyway going to go and take some more stuff off the car and finish prepping the roof.

Mite get the dash out today and the rear suspension too, want to get the exhaust off but cant budge the bloody bolts no matter how much WD40 i spray on them, so i'l borrow the air gun we got at work to take them off me thinks.
 
I got a cheapy electric one which is 125mm by Ryobi, seems to work alright, would have got an air one but my compressor isn't big enough for it.

Make sure you throw some pics up of the painting process, I'd love to see how the polyester primer goes on and the water-based paint too.

Are you French then Mally or do you just work in France?
 
im from telford UK mate but my parents moved out to france when i was 10, i moved back over when i was 17 passed my test worked for my bro for a bit realised how **** england has got then came back over to france again.

19 now and dont regret coming back.

i will post plenty of progress pics going to get some more stuff next week. also going to have a go at getting the engine out will be my first so i'd imagine somthing willl stop me i mean i've already broken both my lower ball joints hitting them with a hammer to get them out didnt think they would be so flimsy to be honest the thread has litrelly squashed it's self down i was amazed use the technique at work on many cars and never a problem i was quite disapointed about this to be fair.

yes mate thinking about the ASR unit the 24mm one i've heard good things about it so thaught i'd give it a try.

Does anyone know where i can get bolts from like replacments mine are all rusty and dont think you can refurb bolts lol

or is it a wire brush and anti rust jobby ?
