Allright boyyys.

Useually find me over on the veedub forums :wow:
But im thinking about coming over to the darkside,

Just want to know the performance figures for Ek type R (import).

0-60, bhp ect,

And how easy is to to gain extra hp, without spending a fortune,

Much appriciated , Dave.....

The 0-60 on a stock EK9 CTR is roughly 6.3 in my opinion,

It has been reported that the race base ek9 CTR model reaches the 0-60 mark in the late 5.

But then when you look at the handling field of the ek9, it shuts up alot of cars.

and is worth every penny,:drive:

im gonna get mine imported in august, cant ****IN wait, lol:nice:

didnt know they where that quick,
accelerations got to be better than the new type r's

all the civic type rs are about the same really. but my ek9 has shut up a fair few british civic type r owners.lol.

as for getting power out of them do a search on the forum as theres loads of topics about it.. if you keep it NA then getting power is hard and expensive work :) but keeps a vtec engine the way it should be ;)

you could go forced induction though if you really wanted and see big gains with the right work.

In wikki it says 0-60 in 5.7secs which is about right i think. I recorded 0-100, you can see on you tube (ek9 0-100mph) It dose depend on wether you get a good launch tho! The stock bhp is 187 which is fernominal from 1600cc NA and with the LSD and indpendent rear supention the handleing is also great fun to drive.
The japs really went to work on making the R really mean Racing in this car and is by far the best type r civic that has bein made! Maybe even type r? apart from the NSX oveiously

Gaining exsta hp is very tempting just so u can b side by side with the likes of new scoobs or mitsubisis but the resonably good fuel econemy will suffer an fuel int cheep. They dont get away from u n e way which always encorages a suprised look on the face an a question, what is that? 1.8 or 2L

Nice one for the replys boys...

they sound like an absolute animal, the acceleration is silly quick.

I was going to purchase a vr6, but there heavy not so quick, no so good on fuel ect....

Saying that, whats the fuel like in the ek's, and how responsive are they below the v-tec.??

Much appricated, dave....

Dont purchase a Corrado vr6 or a golf vr6, there really heavy and fuel aint any good,

The amount of MECHANICAL problems a VR6 creates is ridicolous and utterly waste of money,:angry2:

u wont regret buying a ek9,

Good luck with your decision:nice:

EK9's are pretty quick, you will probably be impressed with one. I think the 5.7s 0-60mph isnt that true, but then I havent really tested it. Anyway, a better way to judge straight line performance is by doing a 1/4 mile run, which still isnt the point of an EK9, the chassis is excellent and handlng is amazing...even the Turbo EK9 we are selling isnt too much for the chassis, the handling is still spot on.

with my stock ek9 I did the same time of golf vr6 in the 1/8 mile hehhee

Single figures when having fun but they'll do 30mpg+ on motorway trips in my experience.

if you dont drive them hard they are good on fuel. show it some v-tec then it starts to drink it. but when u hear the noise and the power that gets blasted at u u dont care how much fuel it goes through.

not too bad then,

Seem perfect the eks do, not many people really know how special they are.
Ive allways loved them but never really thought id get insured at 19.

What sort of things do you NEED to look out for when buying one,?

Nice one, dave..

when you're driving the EK9 it's very hard to resist to floor the gas pedal, the power is just too tempting & when you factor in the cornering prowess you just can't stop yourself from going into the corners real fast.

probably the best mod for the buck has got to be the MFactory 3-4-5 gear set, it keeps the revs within the VTEC zone so when you upshift at redline it doesn't fall below ng powerband. the gear set costs less than a Spoon or TODA header & you'll need to have it mapped for it to work which costs extra.

it is very easy to make extra power, im currently making 333whp :)

Any more info on that, and how much does it set you back??

haitch has recently installed this and has written a review on it under the transmission section.

Guys, dont forget the everyday drive factor.

While the EK9 is fast if you drive it flat out, in everyday driving I find the absence of low end power, the need to shift gears often (high gear ratios, high end power) pretty annoying, compared to a turbo car I had before.

Overtaking is a breeze with a big/turbo engine, while in the EK I have had to downshift, downshift, not enough, again downshift to get the power I wanted.

And everytime you make use of the power you look like a hooligan since you need to drive it flat out

Having said that I still get freaked out sometimes when I floor it through the gears at max revs, and handling is amazing indeed. ;)

yeah thats the only thing downside i could think of.

below the vtec its slow, so to drive it quick youve got to rag it,

The MF kit is very streetable, you are not 'changing gear all the time', overtaking is a breeze on back roads or motorway even out of vtec as the gears maximise every one of the 185 horses. If you do everything in your box, flywheel, clutch (lsd maybe), gears, synchros, fork etc, it will cost £1500 ish (depending what clutch/lsd etc). If you are going N/A, forget ecu's, exhaust, stroker kits, cams etc...these gears should be the first mod bar none. I have spent thousands on cams, headwork etc on another N/A car and the results just cant compare to these shorter ratios.
