EJ9 Tin like noise from upper half of engine

Hey guys,

I have recently come accross a squeeky noise coming from the engine area. I have checked the power steering and alternator belts and pretty sure it's not them as they have a different kind of sound when they start to give in. This sound is a gental tin like sound which aint too loud but it is there when idleing as normal?

Any possible culprits.. I have a feeling it's from within the timing belt area as it has never been replaced before and mileage is 54k and 2000 plate...

It could either be the timing belt tensioner ? the belt? Not sure defo not waterpump as it's coming from the upper area and also it is not consistent..

Is it coming from inside the engine? Mine makes a similar noise to what your describing and everyone told me it was just normal valvetrain noise...

Mine sounds a bit loud at times and i tend to get a bit worried. I think its down to me just listening to hard though.

i think that you mean the injectors working noise...if yes ..that´s normal

Check your exhaust manifold heatshield, have seen them brake around the bolt on area and cause a tin like sound.

Yh it's from that top valve cover area on the right side of the engine.. It was not there before but just recently showed up in the winter.. And it comes and goes so guess aint normal right?

Nah it's lyk a real gentel squeak so can not be the injectors as was not there before..

Ohhh, if it was the exhaust manifold heatshield wouldn't it be a loud rattle? This sounds really gental lol..

Not necessarly, one of the mounting points could be broke on it allowing it to rattle a little, quick way to eliminate it is push something up against it at the different mount point and see does the noise go.

mine also makes a simular noise , have you tried to wd40 your fanbelts /timing belts??

oh right, i'l check up on that also getting the timing belt, tensioner and other drive belts replaced so see how it goes

I'm getting them replaced this coming week which might just solve the problem so lets see how it goes I suspect is one of the bearings as it's not consistent but lets see.
