EBC YELLOW STUFF Review

I've had a set of yellow stuff done two trackdays in them found them cracked up on std capliers......

Any more experiences with these pads?

i suppose it's not completely the same but i ran greens on my fiesta st and after 5k miles they where awful.. pulled them off to have a look and the friction material had cracked away from the backing plates on all of them (not impressed and potentially very dangerous)

also had been using ebc reds and turbo discs on my dads 530D and they did the same thing though it was about 15k of use before we took them off to check their rather dramatic loss of braking power. again i know these are different pads but i would really recommend that every couple of thousand miles you check in the caliper inspection gap to see if they have done the same

Yeah, thanks for your input. But the thing is. I've heard a lot of bad things about EBC but yellow stuff seems to get quite some good reviews and almost no bad ones.

I use them for trackday / street drive and I only can say good things. Even in a hot Rio de Janeiro day my pads didn´t fade on track. Thumbs up.

I tried lots of pads when I upgraded to a six pot caliper, and Pagid came in way better then everything else.

Yellow Stuff R caught fire, wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole.

Get what you pay for at the end of the day! You race though and majority of members on here trackday at most. I must admit the paint on mine and my mates golf both caught a light arround the ring... And he had cooling ducts. But for the most they are a cheap alternative and last alot longer than some of the other pads i 've seen out there.

i cant find no real specs/description from ebc on yellow stuff (bar its track.hard road pad), too many comments on here describe exact characteristics i dont want from pad so wouldnt even try but was case for me well before this thread anyway

ebc has lots marketing especially in u.k and it works as lots of people buy into it + well priced which to majority of buyers is primary reason for purchase

I paid for the full race version (YellowStuff R?), and after bedding in they only lasted two testing sessions, maybe 16 laps at the most?

By the end of the last session they were fading badly, and so I decided to call it quits and by the time I went back into the pits they were well alight. Some quick thinking by my support crew put them out.

They weren't cheap, but not as expensive as Pagid (for good reason, Pagid are the very best you can buy, RS4-2 Blue is the best street/trackday pad you can buy, bar none), but I would have expected them to last a little longer than they did. After we left them in the pits for the rest of the day we had a closer look to find the pad material separating from the backing plate, and deep cracks across the pad surface. You could crumble the pad material away with your fingers!

Funny thing was I had been warned about them by another racer in my class, but thought "they can't be THAT bad!". Sure enough, they were ****.

The V8 guys here in New Zeland have to run EBC as a sponsor thing and they all hate them. They use a set per race :wow: As a comparison one of the drivers used a defferent set of pads (can't remember what they were sorry) for the endurance series (three four to six hour races) and the pads he had lasted the whole series!

Yellow Stuff And Yellow Stuff R are the same price. R's are best used with aftermarket calipers, so they say anyway.

Only ever used them on my saxo with wilwood 4pots, they were £55 for the money i couldnt go wrong paid over £100 for some mintex m1155 and they yellows were much better.

I got zero fade doing a few laps in a row at the ring, and i was braking really hard.
same at knock hill i got zero fade, suppose the car didnt weigh much but still seemed to be braking harder and later than a lot of other people.

For the money i rate them, but they are about £98 for ek9s... which is a bit steep. Not sure the price of pagids for the ek9?

Stay away from the green and red stuff.

what pads do you run on the rear? i've got the yellows in the front and cant complain about the performance.

Yellows also. I used to run OEM rear but the increased reliance of the fronts ment I was cooking the easily. Yellows all round very good for road and ring IMO.

Also got the fronts delivered for £90. :)

lol my mum's volvo V50 has EBC green stuff pad's as standard from volvo
i know you guys are talking about yellow stuff but funny how they use EBC as OEM..
