I am getting a strange noise coming from what I think is my right hand side drive shaft (drivers) It only happens when I am accelerating and sounds like it gets quicker as the shaft spins faster. It doesn't do it when I am just rolling out of gear though. The car is lowered a bit if that might make a difference. Any help appreciated. Thanks

What sort of noise?

Sounds more like it could be a wheel bearing, do you get knocking/grumbling with the car on full lock? Thats more the sort of thing that would suggest driveshafts, well CV joints in particular are worn

It like a knocking sort of noise, doesnt happen when rolling along out of gear. The CV is slightly worn and I re-packed it and booted it about a month ago but its not too bad. The knocking noise happens in a straight line too...

sounds like C.V joint or wheel bearing as mentioned but take a look at the upper and lower ball joints.

Have you had the car in the air and span the wheel yourself to see if you can hear the noise and locate where its coming from?

I had a quick look yesterday but only on a jack in the rain :( I span the wheel and wobbled the wheel and it felt fine. I yanked the drive shaft around and it was a bit clunky. Could the inner joint be knackered or come out of the gearbox slightly? sorry I'm not too clued up on all this!

sounds like a wierd 1 but possibly could a ball joint is the car lowered by much?

Hi, i had a clunking/knocking noise it was driving me mad, found out it was the inner joint on the o/s driveshaft..... I changed it and was fine after.

sounds like the outer cv joint . very common problem and i have replaced it on a few cars due to the problem you above mentioned
