Does this seem fair?

When he nexts rings do I tell him what I'm doing with legal advice? He is on this forum so no doubt he will see this

personally i would demand some of the money back then go and seek legal advice you should have proof of work carried out there ill pm you incase it is seen and he corrects it :)

i travelled all the way down, got kit fitted in 1 week, drove home..... and all in all im happy! The car is running good, i was happy with the price, thats been 5 months now i have had it back and it seems fine to me.

I have no paper work, have pestered him with e-mails all that time, he replies to my emails but still no paper work. Clearly hasnt declared the work and kept the cash :nerv:

To be honest, im not bothered as i wont be going back for any work as its too far for me to travel. And the turbo is now out of warranty, as it states on there website:

3 Month Warranty on Turbocharger
2 Year Warranty on Kit
3 Year Warranty if Fitted By Us

So for me its only the manifold, intercooler, pipework, ecu etc thats under warranty so no point in me spending on the travel back :blinx:

And i think he knew that, thats why no receipt :secret:

Sorry to hear about this mate had no idea the extent of the issue from our conversation yesterday!

You could Threaten them by saying you will rasie a queery with HMRC over his book keeping. Although you have no recipts im sure you have other correspondance (emails, texts even pictures of the car at his garage?

The possibility of being audited by HMRC will frighten them more than the threat of legal action in small claims court.

Yea as above man get the authorities involved. Surely they will have some way of linking up your bank statements up with what he has purchased etc there will be a paper trail somewhere i bet, just need the right people to find it. Best of luck with this mate, hope you get this cowboy sorted out. :)

Ahh another Race Tech thread. Why are people still using cowboy outfit. Know someone with the same ek same turbo spec with exactly same problem, I warned him not to use this Ricky guy, now he is seeking legal advice.
Uk is full of **** engine builders/tuners. I can really only think of half a dozen I would trust to work on my car.

My ek9 turbo was mapped by racetech although the turbo and boost pipes etc was sourced else where. Been running nearly 3 1/2 years with no issues and thats with track days to boot.
Seems to have problems with his kit.

Definitely is out of order mate. Heard a few bad things about the guy wouldnt trust him.

Thanks vtec6000 for moving this back.

Thought you guys should know, that I'm still waiting on my turbo to be fixed and when it is it comes to around £400!!

To say I'm very angry is an understatement.

I'd ask him to give you a receipt for everything done from day one before you hand him the £400

He shouldn't have a problem with that - if he says he'll send it you later then tell him no problem - you'll pay him then

Hate cowboys

Shaun, thought Ricky would have sorted this out by now!
Make an account on UKstarletowners.com and put up "has anybody had any dealings with Race-tech".
The starbo guys spend alot of money with this guy, and again mix bag of positive and negative feedback (ie his welds on his race-tech manifolds are done with a solder iron!)

He's on the forum, and I'm pretty sure he will take notice as the main admin Socks has spent over £20k with him.

At JAE last year nobody had any good words to say about Ricky!

He won't give me receipts, keeps saying he will send them then nothing. I paid him cash £6600 last time, I think I'm not getting them because that money didn't go to the bank, so no tax!! Think I will make an account and see what they say. Cars been off the road a very long time now, if I don't pay I don't get my stuff :/

its super crap what is happening to the OP, usual story of a crap garage, but who are all these dudes telling you to grass him in to the HMRC?

didnt realise this forum was filled with rats lol

Rats? The OP has gave this guy £6600 and his car still isn't running right and has not been given a receipt.

Also this isn't first time this has happened with this company and it will not be the last. So if it takes someone to be a "rat" to get this sorted then so be it :). £6600 is a lot of cash!

When will people see sense, use a reputable mapper and engine builder like RDT.tv

Heard so many bad stories now, read around the net and its nothing but bad, blown engines, MELTED turbos poor fabrication etc the list is endless

Couldn't agree more with that, can be used as a warning for others who may always be tempted to use them. :nice:

I'm sure if you forked out almost 7k, you'd be pissed if it you were being charged more - who wouldn't?

Cheers guys, thing is he isn't arsed!! When I first decided to use him I saw nothing but goo things. I feel like a right tool now as in my eyes iv spent nearly £7000 for my car to sit in my garage and the had to fork out more
Money to buy a 306 to get me to work! I honestly don't know what to do now I'm just really annoyed
