It was an amazing machine of the sky's, did some of you fly on Concorde?

If yes what is the feeling?

I was too young so my parents didnt want to travel on it, so I missed out :(

Er not really, it gave off far too much pollution, cost far too much to run and as for the noise... it could only go mac speeds over sea because of that.

Reasons they ditched it.
1960's technology is rubbish, except the Apache :) that dosn't count lol.

I really don't agree with you mate.

In 1962 was made the fastest airplane ever the SR-71.

Were is the technology from 00 to beat them? Okay you can say about the crises and etc etc but for me that is crap...

Like our cars there's always things that doesn't match, you can't have a free flow exhaust sistem without noise, more air+more fuel=more power etc...

But :nice: dif. minds dif. ideas :)

I haven't been n concorde, but where i live ther is one on show to the public.

It can be seen at the museum off flight near east fortune :D

Museum of Flight

thers the link to have a look

I thought concorde didn't fly anymore as ther were proven unsafe??

Yeah, they stopped in 2003.

Yeah, i just read up on it just now. It said that air france and british airways blamed it on falling passenger numbers, but this was a cover up as they couldn't keep concorde upto flying standards due to the costs to do so. Apparently they had been airbourne for several years when they shouldn't have.

"It is in my view, and remains so in my view, the safest aeroplane that is flying in the skies today, for two reasons.

"One, is that it's a very tough aeroplane, it's built in a very robust manner, and secondly it's got tremendous reserve capacity, by that I mean it's got a huge excess in capacity and power on the engines, all that sort of thing.

"So it's a very very safe aeroplane. And in my view, in spite of this accident, it remains so."

Capt John Hutchinson

aka the Lockheed Blackbird. Released in 1966 and ended in 1998.

Also rubbish. All US fundings are in the Comanche, which is also rubbish due to the problems lol.

The cockpit from both aircraft looks so outdated, the Concorde didn't even have fly by wire. :nono:

The A380 was ment to be the replacement of the Concord for Atlantic flights to New York.

If you want to get technical about fastest Aircraft, it's known the "black projects" such as the denied Aurora can do speeds of between Mach 6-20. (6-20 times speed of sound) which would be the fastest aircraft in the world.
Also led to belive some think the aircraft was designed from extraterrestrial unknown aircraft crashed into Earth.

Do you have knowledge to build a SR-71 or a Concorde?

So wrong, forget pollution, running costs and noise....and look at it from an engineering point of view. It's astonishing the things they overcome to make it a passenger plane at all. Anyone can make a ground breaking machine in military form but to serve food, be able to sleep and talk without an intercom system while doing 1400 mph is awe inspiring.

And no I never wen't on it, only rich people flew Concorde.

Take it from me that technology in the 1960's might be old but has it been matched yet with a passenger jet no! It was a great plane very well built and super powerfull the amount of technology in that aircraft is amazing the aerodynamics involved in flying supersonic are so hard to deal with and especially for such a large plane.. It could cruise at mach 2.0 with no afterburners that is just crazy.. It was a great aircraft that any pilot would give anything to fly trust me.. Oh and regards fly by wire pilots prefer not to have it and prefer more hands on flying.. I could go into the theory but that would take too long just take it from me excellent aircraft another one is needed...

I have to go their :nice: to see concorde

Yeah the museum is a great experince mate.

I can remember all the fuss when the concorde was being police escorted up from England. They used the A1 as far as they could go. And got permission to use the farmers fields for the rest off the distance as the road to the museum couldnt handle the sheer size off the concorde.

The concorde was a very impressive passenger jet. To be able to cross the Atlantic with 100 passengers in 3.5 hours is a great achievement.
